Installation [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL NO. 1 INVERTER COOLING HOSE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
  2. INSTALL WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Install the 2 wire harness clamp brackets to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

  3. INSTALL HYBRID TRANSAXLE MASS DAMPER 
    1. Install a new gasket and the hybrid transaxle mass damper to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

      Torque: 39 N*m (400 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf) 

  4. INSTALL NO. 3 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASE COVER 
    1. Install the No. 3 automatic transmission case cover to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 2 bolts and a new clip.

      Torque: 7.0 N*m (71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf) 

  5. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASE COVER 
    1. Engage the 2 guides to install the automatic transmission case cover to the No. 3 automatic transmission case cover.
  6. INSTALL NO. 3 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Install the No. 3 transmission control cable bracket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

  7. INSTALL NO. 2 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Install the No. 2 transmission control cable bracket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

  8. INSTALL NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Install the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

  9. INSTALL FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Install the front engine mounting bracket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 64 N*m (653 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf) 

  10. SUPPORT ENGINE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Set an engine lifter.

      NOTE:

      Make sure that there is a clearance between the oil pan sub-assembly and engine lifter.

  11. INSTALL HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. While keeping the engine assembly and hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly horizontal, align the 2 knock pins with each hole on the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly and tighten the 9 bolts shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly to the engine assembly with the 9 bolts.
      Bolt Bolt Length Torque
      (A), (B) 55 mm (2.17 in.) 64 N*m (653 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf)
      (C) 65 mm (2.56 in.) 46 N*m (469 kgf*cm, 34 ft.*lbf)
      (D) 32 mm (1.26 in.) 44 N*m (449 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)
      33 mm (1.30 in.) 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)
      (E) 38 mm (1.50 in.) 28 N*m (286 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf)
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply grease either to the inner splines or to the input shaft.
      • Make sure that the wire harness or other similar items are not pinched between the contact surfaces.
      • Do not use excessive force when installing the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
      • Make sure to align the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly so that the input shaft of the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly will be inserted straight into the inner splines of the transmission input damper assembly.
      • When inserting the input shaft of the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly into the inner splines of the transmission input damper assembly, do not shake the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly excessively.
      • When mounting the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly to the engine assembly, make sure to securely fit the knock pins into the knock pin holes.
      • Confirm that the 2 knock pins are installed to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly contact surfaces of the engine assembly before installing the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
      • Make sure that the engine assembly and hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly are flat against each other before tightening the bolts.
      • To prevent the motor water jacket cover assembly from being deformed, do not place any attachments under the motor water jacket cover assembly of the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
      • Secure the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly to the transmission jack using a belt, etc. to prevent it from falling.

      HINT: 

      Temporarily install the bolt (B) first.

  12. INSTALL BELT 
    1. Install SST to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

      • SST: 09727-00110 
    2. Using the ratchet buckle, tighten the belt until there is no slack.

  13. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH 
    1. Install the engine mounting insulator LH to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the nut.

      Torque: 95 N*m (969 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf) 

  14. INSTALL FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 
    1. Install the front engine mounting insulator to the front engine mounting bracket with the bolt.

      Torque: 87 N*m (887 kgf*cm, 64 ft.*lbf) 

  15. REMOVE SUPPORT BAR 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and SST (support bar) from the vehicle body.
    2. Remove the nut, stud bolt and SST (support bar) from the engine mounting bracket RH.
  16. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR RH 
    1. Install the engine mounting insulator RH to the engine mounting bracket RH with the nut.

      Torque: 95 N*m (969 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf) 

  17. INSTALL FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  18. REMOVE BELT 
    1. Remove SST from the vehicle body.

    2. Connect the windshield washer jar assembly to the vehicle body and tighten the bolt.

      Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) 

    3. Install the bolt and nut.

      Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) 

  19. REMOVE ENGINE SUPPORT BRIDGE 
    1. Remove SST from the vehicle body.
      NOTE:

      Prevent SST from contacting the vehicle body or windshield.

    2. Install the 2 hood support assemblies (Refer to INSTALLATION [10/2014 - ] ).
    3. Engage the 2 clamps.
  20. REMOVE ENGINE HANGERS 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  21. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING STAY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 36

  22. INSTALL FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20

  23. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21

  24. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22

  25. CONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  26. CONNECT NO. 5 INVERTER COOLING HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 40

  27. CONNECT WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Connect the 3 clamps and install the motor cable to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the 3 clamps and 4 connectors, and install the wire harness to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Bolt (A) 

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

      Bolt (B) 

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

  28. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 43

  29. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 85

  30. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  31. INSTALL INVERTER TRAY BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  32. INSTALL INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY

  33. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  34. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  35. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  36. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH

  37. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH

  38. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH

  39. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH

  40. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP

  41. ADD HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID

  42. ADD COOLANT (for Inverter)

  43. INSPECT HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID 

    See step  1

  44. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK 
  45. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (for Inverter) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  46. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 
  47. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH 
  48. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH 
  49. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER LH 
  50. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD LH 
  51. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER RH 
  52. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD RH 
  53. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT 

    (Refer to ADJUSTMENT [10/2014 - 10/2015] or ADJUSTMENT [10/2015 - ] )

  54. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    (Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE [10/2014 - 10/2015] or TEST MODE PROCEDURE [10/2015 - ] )
