Driver Side Knee Airbag Assembly: Installation

  1. INSTALL TIRE PRESSURE WARNING RESET SWITCH  (See INSPECTION )
  2. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the battery negative (-) cable is disconnected.
      CAUTION: Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
    3. Install the DLC3 to the driver side knee airbag assembly with the 2 claws.

    4. Connect the driver side knee airbag connector and tire pressure warning reset switch connector to the driver side knee airbag assembly.
      NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    5. Support the driver side knee airbag assembly with one hand as shown in the illustration.

    6. Temporarily install the driver side knee airbag assembly with the 2 hooks.

    7. Install the driver side knee airbag assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

  3. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Air Conditioning System)  (See INSTALLATION )
  4. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Air Conditioning System)  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  6. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  (See INSTALLATION )

  7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  8. INSPECT TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM 

    HINT:

    (See TEST MODE PROCEDURE )

  9. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
