Inspection Procedure
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
- INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR (FOR TUMBLE CONTROL VALVE)
- Inspect the intake air control valve actuator (See INSPECTION
).
NG: REPLACE INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR (FOR TUMBLE CONTROL VALVE) (See INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR (FOR TCV) )
OK: Go to next step
- Inspect the intake air control valve actuator (See INSPECTION
).
- INSPECT INTAKE MANIFOLD (TUMBLE CONTROL VALVE OPERATION)
- Inspect the intake manifold (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
).
NG: REPLACE INTAKE MANIFOLD (See REMOVAL )
OK: Go to next step
- Inspect the intake manifold (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
).
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Disconnect the intake air control valve actuator connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open):

- CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2009 OR P2010)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
- Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN .
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine/Trouble Codes.
- Read the DTCs.
