Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2004 OR P2006)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine/Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the DTCs.

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P2004 or P2006 is output A
P2004 or P2006 and other DTCs are output B

      HINT:

If any DTCs other than P2004 or P2006 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

      B:  GO TO DTC CHART

      A: Go to next step

  2. INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR (FOR TUMBLE CONTROL VALVE)
    1. Inspect the intake air control valve actuator (See INSPECTION ).

NG: REPLACE INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR (FOR TUMBLE CONTROL VALVE)  (See INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR (FOR TCV) )

      OK: Go to next step

  3. INSPECT INTAKE MANIFOLD (TUMBLE CONTROL VALVE OPERATION)
    1. Inspect the intake manifold (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).

NG: REPLACE INTAKE MANIFOLD  (See REMOVAL )

      OK: Go to next step

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - INTAKE AIR CONTROL ACTUATOR)
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    2. Disconnect the intake air control valve actuator connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
