Inspection Procedure
- CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check if CAN communication DTC is output (See
DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
).
Result
RESULT CHARTResult Proceed to CAN communication DTC is not output. A CAN communication DTC is output. B B: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
A: Go to next step
- Check if CAN communication DTC is output (See
DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
).
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Ignition switch on (IG).
- Turn the tester on.
- Enter following menus: Body Electrical/Combination Meter/Active Test.
- Check the operation by referring to the table below.
Combination Meter:
COMBINATION METER - ACTIVE TESTTester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Fuel Meter Operation Fuel receiver gauge EMPTY, 1/2, FULL - OK: Needle indication is normal.
NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Ignition switch on (IG).
- Turn the tester on.
- Enter following menus: Body Electrical/Combination Meter/Data List.
- Check the values by referring to the table below.
Combination Meter:
COMBINATION METER - DATA LISTTester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Fuel Input Fuel input signal Min.: 0, Max.: 127.5 Fuel gauge indicates (E): 7.5 (L)
Fuel gauge indicates (1/2): 35.0 (L)
Fuel gauge indicates (F): 62.9 (L)- OK: Fuel value signal displayed on the tester is almost the same as needle indication.
NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY)
- Disconnect the E1 and fuel sender gauge assembly connectors.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance

- INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the fuel sender gauge connector.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals 1 and 2 of the connector according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONFloat Level Resistance (Ω) F 3.0 to 5.0 Between E and F 3.0 to 111.0 (Gradually changes) E 109.0 to 111.0 - Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly (See REMOVAL for 2GR-FE, See REMOVAL for 1AR-FE).
- Check that the float moves smoothly between F and E.
- Check the fuel sender gauge if there is deformation in the arm.
Result
RESULT CHARTResult Proceed to OK A NG (for 2GR-FE) B NG (for 1AR-FE) C B: REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY (for 2GR-FE) (See REMOVAL )
C: REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAGE ASSEMBLY (for 1 AR-FE) (See REMOVAL )
