Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Removal

  1. BOLT, SCREW AND NUT TABLE 
    1. The table of the bolt, screw and nut.

      HINT:

      All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.3  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE STEERING PAD  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH NO.1 
    1. Using a molding remover to disengage the 2 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish garnish No.1.

  10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH NO.2 
    1. Using a molding remover to disengage the 4 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish garnish No.2.

  11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Remove the instrument panel finish plate.

  12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 claws and 6 clips then remove the instrument panel sub-assembly.
    2. Disconnect the connectors then remove the instrument panel sub-assembly.
  13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY

  15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws < D > or < E >.

    2. Using a molding remover, disengage the 5 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.

  16. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws < F >.
    2. Pull out the combination meter assembly, then disconnect the connectors.

  17. REMOVE ACCESSORY METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws < F >.
    2. Pull out the combination meter assembly, then disconnect the connectors.

  18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY NO.1 
    1. Disengage the 4 clips and remove the instrument panel register assembly No.1.

  19. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY NO.4 
    1. Disengage the 4 clips and remove the instrument panel register assembly No.4.

  20. REMOVE SPEAKER HOLE COVER NO.1 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 12 claws and remove the speaker hole cover No. 1.
  21. REMOVE FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER  (See REMOVAL )
  22. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  23. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )

  24. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  (See REMOVAL )
  25. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH  (See REMOVAL )
  26. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.2 
    1. Push the 4 claws in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage then and remove the guide on the front of the vehicle.
    2. Disconnect the connectors and remove the instrument panel under cover sub-assembly No.2.

  27. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL RH 
    1. Remove the bolt < B > and 4 screws < D > or < E >.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws and clip and remove the instrument panel finish lower panel RH.

  28. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH 
    1. Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
    2. Remove the bolt < B > and screw < D >.
    3. Disengage the 7 claws and 4 clips.
    4. Disconnect the connectors and remove the instrument panel finish lower panel LH.
  29. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LOWER NO.1  (See REMOVAL )

  30. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the shift lever knob sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.

  31. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the position indicator housing assembly.

  32. REMOVE SEAT HEATER SWITCH (w/ Seat Heater System) 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the seat heater switch.

  33. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER 
    1. Disengage the 6 claws and remove the console upper box (with box).
    2. Disengage the 10 clips.

    3. Disconnect each connector and remove the console upper panel sub-assembly.
  34. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  35. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect each connector.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts < C > and 2 screws < D > then the console box assembly.

  36. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX FRONT 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts < G > and screw < D >.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the console front box.

  37. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws < D >.
    2. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the instrument panel finish lower panel center.

  38. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 
    1. Disengage the 7 claws and remove the instrument side panel LH.

  39. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws and 2 clips then remove the instrument side panel RH.
  40. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH  (See REMOVAL )
  41. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH  (See REMOVAL )
  42. DISCONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR  (See REMOVAL )

  43. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connectors.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts < A > and 2 nuts < G >.
    3. Remove the 2 clamps.
    4. Disengage the 5 claws and remove the instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly with front passenger airbag assembly.

  44. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PIN NO.1 
    1. Remove the screw < D > or < E > and instrument panel pin No. 1.

  45. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.1 
    1. Remove the 3 screws < D > or < E > and heater to register duct No.1.
  46. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.3 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the heater to register duct No.3 and the heater to register duct No.1.

  47. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.1 
    1. Remove the screw < D > or < E > and side defroster nozzle duct No.1.
  48. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.2 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the side defroster nozzle duct No.2 and the side defroster nozzle duct No.1.

  49. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 screws < D > or < E > and defroster nozzle assembly.

  50. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE LH 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the side defroster nozzle LH.
  51. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the side defroster nozzle RH and the side defroster nozzle LH.

  52. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER 
    1. Remover the 2 screws < D > or < E > and instrument panel bracket sub-assembly center.
  53. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  54. REMOVE GLOVE BOX LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the glove box light assembly.
  55. REMOVE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  56. REMOVE NAVIGATION ANTENNA ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

  57. REMOVE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR 
    1. Remove automatic light control sensor.
      NOTE: Do not pry the automatic light control sensor off from the upper position.
  58. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
