Section 51 (Engine Cooling System): Fan: Removal

DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (See REMOVAL )
DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See COOLANT )
DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
1. Drain automatic transmission fluid (see AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID ).
REMOVE NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY
1. Disconnect the clamp on the wire from the radiator.
2. Disconnect the reservoir hose from the radiator.
3. Remove the 2 bolts, reservoir and grommet.
REMOVE FAN WITH FLUID COUPLING
1. Remove the 2 nuts, and disconnect the 2 clamps on the A/C discharge tube from the 2 wire harness brackets.
2. Remove the 2 bolts, and disconnect the 2 wire harness brackets from the radiator.
3. Disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses from the clamp on the fan shroud.

4. Loosen the 4 fan pulley mounting nuts holding the fluid coupling to the fan bracket.
5. Remove the drive belt (see REMOVAL ).

6. Remove the 3 bolts holding the fan shroud to the radiator.
7. Remove the 4 fan pulley mounting nuts.
8. Pull out the fan with fluid coupling, fan pulley and fan shroud.
  NOTE: Be careful not to damage the radiator core.
REMOVE FAN
1. Remove the 4 nuts and fan from the fluid coupling.
