Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the ABS & TRACTION actuator assy, perform zero point calibration (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).
  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND HELD TESTER (SKID CONTROL BUZZER) 
    1. Connect the hand held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the hand held tester main switch on.
    3. Select "ACTIVE TEST" on the hand held tester.

      ACTIVE TEST: ABS/VSC 

      ACTIVE TEST - ABS/VSC

      Item Vehicle Condition/Test Details Diagnostic Note
      VSC/BR WARN BUZ Turns skid control buzzer ON/OFF Buzzer is heard
    4. Check that the buzzer sounds/stops when turning the skid control buzzer on/off by using the handheld tester.

    Result: 

    RESULT

    Buzzer sounds/stops A
    Buzzer does not sound or sounds constantly B
    1. B: Go to step 2 
    2. A: END 

    HINT:

    If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the problem symptoms table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).

  2. INSPECT SKID CONTROL BUZZER (POWER SOURCE TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control buzzer connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION - VOLTAGE

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    D18-2 - Body ground Ignition switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. INSPECT SKID CONTROL BUZZER 
    1. Disconnect the skid control buzzer connector.
    2. Apply battery negative voltage to terminal 1, and battery positive voltage to terminal 2 of the skid control buzzer, and then check that the buzzer sounds.

      OK: 

      Skid control buzzer sounds.

    1. NG: REPLACE SKID CONTROL BUZZER 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU TO SKID CONTROL BUZZER) (SEE  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION - RESISTANCE

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    A34-30 (BZ) - B18-1 Below 1 Ω
    A34-30 (BZ) - Body ground 10 kΩor higher
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BZ CIRCUIT) 
    2. OK: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 

    HINT:

    If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the problem symptoms table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).
