Power Steering Gear: Removal

NOTE:
Remove the steering wheel assembly before the steering gear removal, because there is possibility of breaking of the spiral cable.
- Place front wheels facing straight ahead.
- Remove steering wheel pad. See Step 1 - Remove Steering Wheel Pad .
- Remove steering wheel. See Step 2 - Remove Steering Wheel .
- Disconnect RH and LH tie rod ends . See step 4 of FRONT AXLE HUB & WHEEL BEARING .
- Disconnect intermediate shaft sub-assembly. See Step 11 - Disconnect Intermediate Shaft Sub-Assembly .
- Remove the nut and clamp plate.
- Disconnect pressure feed and return tubes:
- Using SST, disconnect the pressure feed and return tubes. SST 09023-38400.
- Remove the 2 O-rings from the pressure feed and return tubes.
- Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the stabilizer bar.
- Remove the 2 bolts, nut and No. 1 fuel tube protector.
- Remove PS gear assembly:
- Remove the 2 PS gear assembly set bolts and nuts.
- Remove the PS gear assembly from the LH of the vehicle.
NOTE: Lift up the stabilizer bar and remove the bolts.CAUTION: Do not damage the turn pressure tubes.
NOTE:
Do not remove the stabilizer bar.
