DTC B14A1: SUNLOAD Sensor Circuit Low/Open
DTC detecting condition:
Sunload sensor (auto light sensor) circuit is open. (Displayed for current code)
Trouble symptom:
OPERATION is performed as no sunload.
- Check all DTCs, and if diagnostic code B1244 (light sensor) is output simultaneously, the auto light sensor power supply may be abnormal.
- When the sunload sensor check is performed indoors or in the shade, it could be diagnosed as having an open circuit. Always check the sunload sensor in direct sunlight.
Wiring diagram:

- CHECK CONNECTOR
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Check connecting condition of the A/C control panel connector and sunload sensor connector.
Is the check result OK?
Yes: Go to 2.
No: Repair the connector.
- CHECK DTC
.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Read the DTC of [Air Conditioner] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B14A1 displayed?
Yes: Go to 3.
No: Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time.
Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis.
NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause. - CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)

- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect the connectors from the A/C control panel and sunload sensor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>CONTROL PANEL>REMOVAL . Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR>REMOVAL .
- Using a tester, measure the resistance between the sunload sensor connector and A/C control panel connector terminals.
Connector & terminal
(i130) No. 15 - (i159) No. 1:
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?
Yes: Go to 4.
No: Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
- CHECK HARNESS
.
- Connect the disconnected connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Using a tester, measure the voltage between terminals in sunload sensor connector.

(i159) No. 1 (+) - (i159) No. 6 (-):
Is the value 0.2 V - 4.8 V when the sensor is exposed to sunlight or inspection light (the voltage varies depending on the light strength), or less than 0.2 V when the sensor is not exposed to direct sunlight (the sensor is covered with a cloth)?
NOTE: The sensor may not respond to weak sunlight or inspection light. If the sensor does not respond, use an incandescent light to take measurements by emitting light at a distance of about 30 cm.Yes: Replace the A/C control panel. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>CONTROL PANEL .
No: Replace the sunload sensor. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR>REMOVAL .
