Airbag Control Module: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • Do not disassemble the airbag control module.
  • If the airbag control module is deformed or if there is any trace of water on the module, replace the airbag control module with a new one.
  • Do not drop the airbag control module.
  • After removal, keep the airbag control module on a dry, clean surface away from moisture, heat and dust.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from the 12V engine restart battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    NOTE:
    • For CVT models, release the shift lock and shift the select lever to the "N" position.
    • For the hybrid model, disconnect the battery negative terminal.
    • For power seat models, remove the console box and move the front seat backward before disconnecting the ground terminal from the 12V engine restart battery sensor or disconnecting the battery negative terminal.
  3. Remove the grille assembly - CTR ventilation. Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>AIR VENT GRILLE>REMOVAL>CENTER GRILLE ASSEMBLY .
  4. Remove the panel - center UPR, and remove the audio assembly or navigation assembly. Refer to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>AUDIO>REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the heater control assembly. Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>CONTROL PANEL>REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the cover assembly - front and the console box assembly. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CONSOLE BOX>REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the panel center LWR, and remove the tray - center UPR. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>CENTER CONSOLE>REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the airbag control module.
    1. Disconnect the connector from airbag control module. Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE .
    2. Remove the bolt and nuts and remove the airbag control module.
