  1. CHECK DTC  .

Read the DTC of [Plug-in Battery Charger] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to PLUG-IN BATTERY CHARGER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Are any DTCs displayed?

Yes  : Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Ref. to PLUG-IN BATTERY CHARGER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    No  : Go to  2.

  2. CHECK Electric vehicle charger assembly (AMD2 VOLTAGE)  .
CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Check that the Service plug is disconnected. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>SERVICE PLUG .
    2. Turn the ignition to OFF.
    3. Connect the Battery (12V) ground terminal. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    4. Using a tester, measure the voltage between Electric vehicle charger assembly connector and chassis ground. (With the connector connected)

      Connector & terminal

      (R516) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the voltage 11 - 14 V?

    Yes  : Go to  3.

No  : Check the power supply circuit of Electric vehicle charger assembly.

  3. CHECK Electric vehicle charger assembly (IGCT VOLTAGE) (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Turn to IG ON.
    2. Using a tester, measure the voltage between Electric vehicle charger assembly connector and chassis ground. (With the connector connected)

      Connector & terminal

      (HV31) No. 6 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the voltage 11 - 14 V?

    Yes  : Go to  4.

No  : Check the ignition power supply circuit of Electric vehicle charger assembly.

  4. CHECK Electric vehicle charger assembly (GROUND)  .
CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Turn the ignition to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the ground terminal of Battery (12V). Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    3. Using a tester, measure the resistance between the unit case of Electric vehicle charger assembly and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal

Electric vehicle charger assembly unit case - Chassis ground:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  5.

No  : Because the Electric vehicle charger assembly uses a case ground structure, if the check results are outside the standard range, check the tightening conditions of the ground bolt.

  5. CHECK THE Electric vehicle charger assembly UNIT  .
CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Disconnect Electric vehicle charger assembly connector (HV31).
    2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between Electric vehicle charger assembly terminals.

      Connector & terminal

      (HV31) No. 16 - (HV31) No. 17:

    Is the resistance 54 - 69 Ω?

Yes  : Replace Electric vehicle charger assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER .

    No  : Go to  6.

  6. CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly - Electric vehicle charger assembly)  .
CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Disconnect Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector (i369).
    2. Disconnect Battery ECU assembly connector (HV42).
    3. Using a tester, measure the resistance between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

      Connector & terminal

      (HV31) No. 16 - (i369) No. 35:

      (HV31) No. 17 - (i369) No. 34:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  7.

No  : Repair or replace the Wire harness between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

  7. CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly - Electric vehicle charger assembly) (SHORT TO GROUND OR LINE-TO-LINE SHORT)  .
CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.

Using a tester, measure the resistance between terminals in Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector, and between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal

    (i369) No. 16 - (i369) No. 1 - 35:

    (i369) No. 16 - Chassis ground:

    (i369) No. 17 - (i369) No. 1 - 35:
