DTC P2530-12: IG2 Signal Circuit Short To Auxiliary Battery: Notes

1. - 

Outline of diagnosis: 

IG2 signal ON stuck is detected by comparing with the IG control status signal sent from Keyless access Control Module

(1 trip detection logic)

Trouble symptom: 

Hybrid system stopped

Wiring diagram: 

Hybrid system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM (CROSSTREK MODEL (HEV))>HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .

  1. CHECK Battery (12V) VOLTAGE  .
    1. To remove the surface charge, turn the headlight dimmer switch assembly to ON with IG OFF.
    2. Wait for 30 seconds.
    3. Using a tester, measure the Battery (12V) voltage.

      Connector & terminal 

      Battery (12V) positive terminal - Battery (12V) negative terminal:

    Is the voltage 11.0 V or more? (At electrolyte temperature 20°C (68°F), IG OFF)

    Yes  : Go to  2.

    No  : Charge or replace Battery (12V). Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO (HEV))>BATTERY .

    And then, Go to  2.

  2. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
    2. Read the DTC of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC P253012 displayed?

    Yes  : Go to  3.

    No  : Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

    NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, or temporary open or short circuit of the Wire harness may be the cause.
  3. CHECK DTC  .

    Read the DTC of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC U011087, U012987, U014087, U015187, U016487 or U117087 displayed?

    Yes  : Go to  4.

    No  : Replace Keyless access Control Module. Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL MODULE .

  4. CHECK Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly  .
    1. Turn the ignition to OFF.
    2. Disconnect Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connectors (B605) and (B606).
    3. Using a tester, measure the voltage between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector terminals.

      Connector & terminal 

      (B605) No. 2 (+) - (B606) No. 2 (-):

    Is the voltage 9 V or more?

    Yes  : Go to  5.

    No  : Replace Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE .

  5. CHECK ECM  .
    1. Disconnect ECM connector (i75). Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (HEV))>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) .
    2. Using a tester, measure the voltage between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector terminals.

      Connector & terminal 

      (B605) No. 2 (+) - (B606) No. 2 (-):

    Is the voltage 9 V or more?

    Yes  : Go to  6.

    No  : Replace ECM. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (HEV))>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) .

  6. CHECK IG2 relay UNIT (IG2 RELAY)  .
    1. Remove the IG2 relay from the Relay & fuse box (F/B). Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>RELAY AND FUSE .
    2. Check the IG2 relay unit.

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  7.

    No  : Replace IG2 relay.

  7. CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly - IG2 relay)  .

    Using a tester, measure the voltage between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal 

    (B605) No. 2 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the voltage 1 V or less?

    Yes  : Go to  8.

    No  : Repair or replace Wire harness between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly - IG2 relay connector.

  8. CHECK CONNECTION CONDITION OF CONNECTOR (Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly - Relay & fuse box (F/B) CONNECTOR)  .

    Check the connecting condition Wire harness and connector between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly - Relay & fuse box (F/B), and check the relevant terminals for contact pressure, deformation and intrusion of water or foreign matter.

    Is there looseness at the connector connection, or any poor contact, deformation or intrusion of water or foreign matters at the relevant terminals?

    Yes  : Connect the connector securely. Or repair the poor contact of connector.

    No  : Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

    NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, or temporary open or short circuit of the Wire harness may be the cause.
