DTC P1C88-79: Planetary Gear Mechanical Linkage Failure: Notes

Outline of diagnosis:

Planetary gear lock

Three gears of the planetary gear do not turn individually but turn all together

Seizure of planetary carrier

(1 trip detection logic)

Trouble symptom:

Reduced output power
A driving range is limited
Engine always stopped

CAUTION:

Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
When this DTC is displayed, engine seizure or transaxle gear seizure may have occurred. Therefore, check the amount of the engine oil, ATF, rear differential gear oil and coolant before the inspection.

NOTE: This DTC is displayed when Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly detects T/M (transmission) lock or malfunction. Therefore, when this DTC is displayed, replace Transmission assembly. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TH2A)>TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY .
