  1. CHECK INSTALLATION CONDITION OF Battery (12V) sensor  .

Check the installation condition of Battery (12V) sensor. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO (HEV))>BATTERY SENSOR .

Is Battery (12V) sensor securely installed?

    Yes  : Go to  2.

No  : Securely install Battery (12V) sensor.

  2. CHECK CONNECTION CONDITION OF CONNECTOR (Battery (12V) sensor CONNECTOR)  .

Check the connecting condition of connector (B9) in Battery (12V) sensor and check the relevant terminals for contact pressure, deformation and intrusion of water or foreign matter. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO (HEV))>BATTERY SENSOR .

Is there looseness at the connector mating, or any poor contact, deformation or intrusion of water or foreign matter at the relevant terminals?

Yes  : Connect the connector securely. Or repair the poor contact of connector.

    No  : Go to  3.

  3. CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Battery (12V) sensor - Battery (12V))  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect Battery (12V) sensor connector (B9).
    3. Using a tester, measure the voltage between Battery (12V) sensor connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal

      (B9) No. 2 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

    Is the voltage 11 - 14 V?

    Yes  : Go to  4.

No  : Repair or replace Wire harness between Battery (12V) sensor connector and chassis ground.

  4. CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Battery (12V) sensor - Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly) (OPEN)  .
    1. Disconnect Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector (B605).
    2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between Battery (12V) sensor connector and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      Connector & terminal

      (B9) No. 2 - (B605) No. 12:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  5.

No  : Repair or replace Wire harness between Battery (12V) sensor connector and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

  5. CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Battery (12V) sensor - Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly) (SHORT TO GROUND)  .
    1. Disconnect the Electric compressor ASSEMBLY connector.
    2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between Battery (12V) sensor connector and chassis ground.

      Connector & terminal

      (B9) No. 2 - Chassis ground:

Is the resistance 10 kΩ or more?

    Yes  : Go to  6.

No  : Repair or replace Wire harness between Battery (12V) sensor connector or Electric compressor ASSEMBLY and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

  6. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Restore the vehicle to its original state.
    2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
    3. Turn to READY ON, and wait for 17 minutes or more.
    4. Read the DTC of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC P162B87 displayed?

    Yes  : Go to  7.

No  : Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of Wire harness may be the cause.
  7. CHECK DTC  .

Read the DTC of [Air Conditioner] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC B1498 displayed?

Yes  : Replace Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE .

    No  : Replace Battery (12V) sensor. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO (HEV))>BATTERY SENSOR .
