Boosting converter fail signal detection (circuit malfunction)

    When DTCs related to [P-HEV Drive Motor] mentioned above are simultaneously displayed, go to  C.

    When DTCs related to [P-HEV High Voltage Battery] mentioned above are simultaneously displayed, go to  D.

    Yes:

    3. Perform the diagnosis for the simultaneously displayed DTCs.
      NOTE:
      • If more than one DTC is simultaneously displayed, perform the diagnosis in the order described in the above.
      • If DTC P0A949E is displayed, replace the Inverter with converter assembly after the repair is completed. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>INVERTER AND CONVERTER ASSEMBLY .
    4. Perform the diagnosis for the simultaneously displayed DTCs.
    NOTE:
    • If more than one DTC is simultaneously displayed, perform the diagnosis in the order described in the above.

  2. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA AND DIAGNOSTIC RELATED INFORMATION  .
    1. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read [Diagnosis Related Information] of [P-HEV Drive Motor]. Ref. to P-HEV DRIVE MOTOR (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT .
    2. Read the DTC of [P-HEV Drive Motor] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to P-HEV DRIVE MOTOR (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    When diagnostic related information DTC P312487 is displayed, go to  A.

    When diagnostic related information DTC P312487 is not displayed and freeze frame data [Emergency Shutdown Signal] is ON, go to  B.

    For cases other than above, go to  C.

    Yes: 

    1. Perform the diagnosis of DTC P31241F. Ref. to P-HEV DRIVE MOTOR (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>DTC P31241F LOST COMMUNICATION BETWEEN DRIVE MOTOR "A" AND HV ECU CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT .
    2. Perform the diagnosis of DTC P321E9F. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>DTC P321E9F MOTOR/GENERATOR SHUTDOWN SIGNAL STUCK OFF .
    3. Go to  3.

    No:  -

  3. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA  .

    Using the Subaru Select Monitor, display the following items in the freeze frame data of [P-HEV Drive Motor] (DTC P0A949E or P0D3319). Ref. to P-HEV DRIVE MOTOR (DIAGNOSTICS)>FREEZE FRAME DATA .

    • Boosting Converter Temperature (Upper)
    • Boosting Converter Temperature 1(Lower)

    Is the value of [Boosting Converter Temperature (Upper)] or [Boosting Converter Temperature 1(Lower)] 120[°C] (248°F) or more?

    Yes:  Go to  4.

    No:  Go to  5.

  4. CHECK Cooling System  .

    Check Cooling System. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>COOLING SYSTEM .

    Is the Cooling System OK?

    Yes:  Go to  5.

    No:  Repair according to Cooling System inspection. And then, Go to  5.

  5. CHECK THE CONNECTING CONDITION OF CONNECTOR (Inverter with converter assembly LOW PRESSURE CONNECTOR)  .
    CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Check that the Service plug is disconnected. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>SERVICE PLUG .
    2. Check the connecting condition of low pressure connectors (HV23) and (HV24) in Inverter with converter assembly and check the relevant terminals for contact pressure, deformation and intrusion of water or foreign matter. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>INVERTER AND CONVERTER ASSEMBLY .
    NOTE: When connecting the connector, insert to the end with the lock lever raised, then fold the lock lever completely until a click is heard. After connected, make sure that the lock claw does not loosen and pull the connector to see that it does not come off.

    Is there looseness at the connector connection, or any poor contact, deformation or intrusion of water or foreign matters at the relevant terminals?

    Yes:  Connect the connector securely. Or repair the poor contact of connector.

    No:  Go to  6.

  6. CHECK GENERATOR RESOLVER CIRCUIT  .

    Check GENERATOR RESOLVER CIRCUIT. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>GENERATOR RESOLVER CIRCUIT .

    Is the GENERATOR RESOLVER CIRCUIT OK?

    Yes:  Go to  7.

    No:  Repair according to GENERATOR RESOLVER CIRCUIT inspection. And then, Go to  7.

  7. CHECK MOTOR RESOLVER CIRCUIT  .

    Check MOTOR RESOLVER CIRCUIT. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>MOTOR RESOLVER CIRCUIT .

    Is the MOTOR RESOLVER CIRCUIT OK?

    Yes:  Go to  8.

    No:  Repair according to MOTOR RESOLVER CIRCUIT inspection. And then, Go to  8.

  8. CHECK GENERATOR HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT  .

    Check GENERATOR HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>GENERATOR HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT .

    Is the GENERATOR HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT OK?

    Yes:  Go to  9.

    No:  Repair according to GENERATOR HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT inspection. And then, Go to  9.

  9. CHECK MOTOR HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT  .

    Check MOTOR HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>MOTOR HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT .

    Is the MOTOR HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT OK?

    Yes:  Go to  10.

    No:  Repair according to MOTOR HIGH-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT inspection. And then, Go to  10.

  10. CHECK Inverter low-voltage circuit  .

    Check Inverter low-voltage circuit. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>INVERTER LOW-VOLTAGE CIRCUIT .

    Is the Inverter low-voltage circuit OK?

    Yes:  Go to  11.

    No:  Repair according to Inverter low-voltage circuit inspection. Then, replace the Inverter with converter assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>INVERTER AND CONVERTER ASSEMBLY .

  11. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA  .

    Using the Subaru Select Monitor, display the [Inverter Input Current] in the freeze frame data of [P-HEV Drive Motor] (DTC P0A949E or P0D3319). Ref. to P-HEV DRIVE MOTOR (DIAGNOSTICS)>FREEZE FRAME DATA .

    NOTE: As the freeze frame data is stored immediately before and after the DTC is stored, the value (only "0(s)") must be read out at the moment that the DTC is stored.

    Is [Inverter Input Current] 50 [A] or more?

    Yes:  Replace Inverter with converter assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>INVERTER AND CONVERTER ASSEMBLY .

    No:  Replace Inverter with converter assembly, HV battery and HV battery junction block. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE .
