EGR Control Valve: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the collector cover. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (EXCEPT FOR STI)>COLLECTOR COVER>REMOVAL .
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Refer to NOTE>NOTE>BATTERY .
  3. Lift up the vehicle.
  4. Remove the under cover. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>FRONT UNDER COVER>REMOVAL .
  5. Drain approximately 3.0 L (3.2 US qt, 2.6 Imp qt) of coolant. Refer to COOLING (EXCEPT FOR STI)>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
  6. Remove the intercooler. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (EXCEPT FOR STI)>INTERCOOLER>REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the EGR pipe. Refer to EMISSION CONTROL (AUX. EMISSION CONTROL DEVICES) (EXCEPT FOR STI)>EGR PIPE>REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the bolts which secure the EGR cooler to the EGR control valve, and remove the bolts which secure the EGR control valve bracket A to the EGR control valve bracket B.

  9. Disconnect the connector (A) and preheater hose (B) from EGR control valve, and remove the EGR control valve.
