Inspection steps
CAUTION:
Before performing troubleshooting, check the fuse for this circuit.
- Performing of SSM4 [Active Test] ([Activate the VSV for Evap Control])
- Connect the SSM4 to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn on the SSM4.
- Select the following menu items using the SSM4.: [Each System]/[Engine Control System]/[Work Support]/[Active Test]/[Activate the VSV for Evap Control]
- Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses of the vacuum switching valve ASSY.
- Activate the vacuum switching valve ASSY and apply positive pressure on E port to check if air is coming to F port.
ACTIVE TEST DESCRIPTION (CRITERIA)[Active Test] ([Activate the VSV for Evap Control]) Criteria ON Air is coming from E port to F port OFF No air is coming from E port to F port RESULT DESCRIPTIONResult Go to Malfunction A Normal B A: Go to next step
B: Go to Step 8.
- Vacuum switching valve ASSY unit inspection
- Perform vacuum switching valve ASSY unit inspection. (Refer to INSTALLATION )
NG: Replacement of vacuum switching valve ASSY (Refer to REMOVAL )
OK: Go to next step
- Check wiring harness and connector (vacuum switching valve ASSY power supply voltage)NOTE: For the inspection procedure and precautions for wiring harnesses and connectors, Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURES FOR ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS AND HOW TO PERFORM .
- Disconnect the vacuum switching valve ASSY connector.
- Measure the voltage between the terminals.
VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONInspection terminals Inspection conditions Standard value d1-1 - chassis ground IG ON 11 to 14 V NG: Go to Step 7.
OK: Go to next step
- Check wiring harness and connector (engine control computer - vacuum switching valve ASSY)NOTE: For the inspection procedure and precautions for wiring harnesses and connectors, Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURES FOR ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS AND HOW TO PERFORM .
- Disconnect the connector for the engine control computer.
- Disconnect the vacuum switching valve ASSY connector.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals. (For terminal arrangement, Refer to ECM TERMINAL ARRANGEMENT .)

OK: Go to next step
- Clear DTC
- Connect the SSM4 to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn on the SSM4.
- Follow the SSM4 on-screen instructions to clear the DTCs. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DTC )
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF, and wait for 30 seconds.
- Perform test drive for operation check
- Perform test drive. (Refer to "TEST DRIVE " under "Description of functions")WARNING: When performing this driving test, always observe the applicable traffic laws such as the speed limit.
- Follow the SSM4 on-screen instructions to check the DTC.
RESULT DESCRIPTIONResult Go to No DTC is output. A P0458 or P0459 is output. B A: Go to next step
B: Replacement of the engine control computer (Refer to REMOVAL )
Inspection for problems that do not normally occur (Refer to INSPECTION FOR PROBLEMS THAT DO NOT NORMALLY OCCUR )
- Perform test drive. (Refer to "TEST DRIVE " under "Description of functions")
- Relay unit inspection (EFI MAIN1 relay)
- Perform unit inspection of EFI MAIN1 relay. (Refer to RELAY )
NG: Relay replacement (EFI MAIN1 relay)
OK: Go to next step
- Check wiring harness and connector (Vacuum switching valve ASSY - EFI relay)NOTE: For the inspection procedure and precautions for wiring harnesses and connectors, Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURES FOR ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS AND HOW TO PERFORM .
- Disconnect the vacuum switching valve ASSY connector.
- Remove the EFI MAIN1 relay from the engine compartment relay block.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals.
