Inspection steps

  1. Read the diagnostic code
    1. Follow the SSM3 on-screen instructions to check the diagnostic codes. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  )

      Result

      P2714 and P0894, or only P0894 is output. A
      P2714 or P0894 and other diagnostic codes are output. B

      A: Go to next step

  2. Line pressure check
    CAUTION:
    • Wash the equipment and hoses with appropriate detergent before and after measurement.
    • Always perform the inspection after the engine check and adjustment.
    • Perform the inspection at an oil temperature (60 to 90°C) in normal driving condition.
    • Perform the inspection with the A/C OFF.
    • Do not perform the inspection continuously for 5 seconds or more at stall. (Time from the accelerator full close to full open, stall speed reading and the accelerator full close)
    • After performing the stall test, be sure to cool down the engine for at least 1 minute with the select lever set in P or N position, and at an idle speed of 1200 r/min or less.
    • If the stall speed is higher than the specified range, finish the stall test in as short a time as possible, in order to prevent the automatic transmission from being damaged.
    • Perform the stall test in normal mode.
    1. Remove the under cover No. 1.
    2. Remove the under cover No. 2.
    3. Remove the exhaust pipe ASSY FR.
    4. Attach the SST on the transmission.

      SST 18681AA040, 498897700, 498575400

      CAUTION:
      • Use 18681AA040 with genuine O-ring (17006AA000) attached.
      • Route the hose so that it does not contact the exhaust pipe.

    5. Install the center exhaust pipe.
    6. Firmly apply the parking brake and set the wheel stoppers.
    7. Remove the test plug, install the gauge and start the engine.
    8. Firmly depress the brake pedal with left foot and shift to D or R position, then check the hydraulic pressure at idling and stalling.
      STANDARD VALUE

      NOTE: When there is an open or short circuit in the line pressure control solenoid ASSY (SLT) system, the line pressure reaches the maximum.

      NG: Go to Step  16.

      OK: Go to next step

  3. Shift position check
    CAUTION:
    • Perform the inspection at an oil temperature (60 to 90°C) in normal driving condition.
    • Turn the A/C and the cruise control OFF.
    1. Drive in M position and check the shift position.
      WARNING: Confirm the safety on the road.
      Criteria: Shift position changes.

      NOTE:
      (1) *: When transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S4) sticks to ON, the shift is normal.

      B: Go to Step  7.

      C: Go to Step  10.

      D: Go to Step  16.

      E: Go to Step  13.

      A: Go to next step

  4. Check of transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S1) unit
    1. Remove the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S1). (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  0)
    2. Check the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S1) unit. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  5)

      NG: Replacement of the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S1) (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  0)

      OK: Go to next step

  5. Check of transmission valve body ASSY unit
    1. Check the transmission valve body ASSY. (Refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      Criteria: There is no malfunction and foreign objects on the solenoid installation portions.

      NG: Replacement of transmission valve body ASSY (refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      OK: Go to next step

  6. Check of torque converter ASSY unit
    1. Check the torque converter ASSY. (Refer to TORQUE CONVERTER & DRIVE PLATE )

      Criteria: There is no malfunction and foreign objects on the solenoid installation portions.

      NG: Replacement of torque converter ASSY (refer to REMOVAL )

      OK: Replacement of automatic transmission ASSY (refer to REMOVAL )

  7. Check of transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S2) unit
    1. Remove the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S2). (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  0)
    2. Check the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S2) unit. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  1)

      NG: Replacement of the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S2) (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  0)

      OK: Go to next step

  8. Check of transmission valve body ASSY unit
    1. Check the transmission valve body ASSY. (Refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      Criteria: There is no malfunction and foreign objects on the solenoid installation portions.

      NG: Replacement of transmission valve body ASSY (refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      OK: Go to next step

  9. Check of torque converter ASSY unit
    1. Check the torque converter ASSY. (Refer to TORQUE CONVERTER & DRIVE PLATE )

      Criteria: Torque converter ASSY is normal.

      NG: Replacement of torque converter ASSY (refer to REMOVAL )

      OK: Replacement of automatic transmission ASSY (refer to REMOVAL )

  10. Check of transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S3) unit
    1. Remove the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S3). (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  1)
    2. Check the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S3) unit. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  6)

      NG: Replacement of the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S3) (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  1)

      OK: Go to next step

  11. Check of transmission valve body ASSY unit
    1. Check the transmission valve body ASSY. (Refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      Criteria: There is no malfunction and foreign objects on the solenoid installation portions.

      NG: Replacement of transmission valve body ASSY (refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      OK: Go to next step

  12. Check of torque converter ASSY unit
    1. Check the torque converter ASSY. (Refer to REMOVAL )

      Criteria: Torque converter ASSY is normal.

      NG: Replacement of torque converter ASSY (refer to REMOVAL )

      OK: Replacement of automatic transmission ASSY (refer to REMOVAL )

  13. Check of transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S4) unit
    1. Remove the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S4). (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  0)
    2. Check the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S4) unit. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  6)

      NG: Replacement of the transmission 3 way solenoid ASSY (S4) (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  0)

      OK: Go to next step

  14. Check of transmission valve body ASSY unit
    1. Check the transmission valve body ASSY. (Refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      Criteria: There is no malfunction and foreign objects on the solenoid installation portions.

      NG: Replacement of transmission valve body ASSY (refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      OK: Go to next step

  15. Check of torque converter ASSY unit
    1. Check the torque converter ASSY. (Refer to TORQUE CONVERTER & DRIVE PLATE )

      Criteria: Torque converter ASSY is normal.

      NG: Replacement of torque converter ASSY (refer to REMOVAL )

      OK: Replacement of automatic transmission ASSY (refer to REMOVAL )

  16. Check of line pressure control solenoid ASSY (SLT) unit
    1. Check the line pressure control solenoid ASSY (SLT) unit. (Refer to CHECKING/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC CODES  )

      NG: Repair or replacement of transmission valve body ASSY (refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      OK: Go to next step

  17. Check of transmission valve body ASSY unit
    1. Check the transmission valve body ASSY. (Refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      Criteria: There is no malfunction and foreign objects on the solenoid installation portions.

      NG: Replacement of transmission valve body ASSY (refer to TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY )

      OK: Go to next step

  18. Check of torque converter ASSY unit
    1. Check the torque converter ASSY. (Refer to TORQUE CONVERTER & DRIVE PLATE )

      Criteria: Torque converter ASSY is normal.

      NG: Replacement of torque converter ASSY (refer to REMOVAL )

      OK: Replacement of automatic transmission ASSY (refer to REMOVAL )
