How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

NOTE:
  • Use these procedures to troubleshoot the engine immobiliser system.
  • *: Use the SSM3.
  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

    NEXT

  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE

    Standard voltage: 11 to 14 V

    If the voltage is below 11V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

    NOTE: A simple method to determine whether the battery is depleted is to operate the horn.

  3. CAN communication system check
    1. Check CAN communication system. (Refer to HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT )
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Functioning properly A
      Not functioning properly B

      B: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (Refer to HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT )

      A: Go to Next Step

  4. CHECK FOR DTC*
    1. Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output. (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR )
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      Engine related DTC is output B
      Engine immobiliser system DTC is not output C
    2. Based on the DTCs output above, proceed to each diagnostic procedure.

      B: To engine control system

      C: PROCEED TO DTC CHART (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  )

      A: Go to Next Step

  5. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
    1. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE . (Refer to )
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Fault is not listed in problem symptoms table A
      Fault is listed in problem symptoms table B

      B: Go to step  7

      A: Go to Next Step

  6. OVERALL ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING*
    1. Check Current Data Display & Save / System Operation Check Mode. (Refer to CURRENT DATA DISPLAY & SAVE / SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK MODE  )
    2. Terminals of ECU. (Refer to ECM TERMINAL ARRANGEMENT  )

  7. ADJUST, REPAIR OR REPLACE

    NEXT

  8. CHECK FOR DTC*
    1. Clear the DTCs. (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR  )
    2. Check for DTCs. (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR  )
      NOTE: Before checking for DTCs, perform the "DTC Output Confirmation Operation" of each diagnostic procedure. (Refer to CURRENT DATA DISPLAY & SAVE / SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK MODE  )
