Remove/install trailer hitch crossmember - AR31.30-P-0007EW

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on installing a trailer hitch   AH31.10-P-1000-02CW
REMOVING Remove     
1 Switch off all electrical consumers and the ignition    
2 Remove rear bumper   AR88.20-P-2200EW
3 Remove impact absorber    
4 Release exhaust rubber mounts on rear muffler IMPORTANT Left on a single-pipe exhaust system. Left and right on a twin-pipe exhaust system.  
5 Disconnect operating cable from the trailer hitch lock   AR31.11-P-8010EW 
IMPORTANTRemoval:  Do not remove the trailer hitch lock. Ensure that the rubber grommet of the operating cable is not damaged when pulled out.
6 Remove trailer socket on crossmember (1)   AR31.19-P-1350EW 
7 Loosen trailer hitch wiring harness at crossmember (1)    
8 Unscrew nuts (15)    
9 Remove screws/bolts (13) IMPORTANT Secure crossmember of trailer hitch (1) to prevent it from falling down.  
10 Remove crossmember of trailer hitch (1)    
INSTALLING Install     
11 Recut thread for screws/bolts (13) on left longitudinal member reinforcement (2) or right longitudinal member reinforcement (3) IMPORTANT When reusing left longitudinal member reinforcement (2) or right longitudinal member reinforcement (3).  
12 Position trailer hitch crossmember (1)    
13 Tighten screws/bolts (13) up to stop IMPORTANT It must be possible to move the trailer hitch crossmember (1) for aligning the trailer hitch. Install new bolts (13).  
14 Screw in nuts (15) up to stop IMPORTANT It must be possible to move the trailer hitch crossmember (1) for aligning the trailer hitch. Replace self-locking nuts (15).  
15 Align trailer hitch    
16 Tighten nuts (15) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, trailer hitch to rear center panel *BA31.11-P-1002-01J 
17 Tighten bolts (13) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, trailer hitch to longitudinal member reinforcement *BA31.11-P-1001-01J 
18 Connect the operating cable of the trailer hitch lock   AR31.11-P-8010EW 
IMPORTANT Ensure that rubber grommet is seated correctly on rear center section.
19 Attach trailer hitch wiring harness to trailer hitch crossmember (1)    
20 Attach trailer socket (X58) to trailer hitch crossmember (1)   AR31.19-P-1350EW 
21 Fix exhaust rubber mount to rear muffler IMPORTANT Left on a single-pipe exhaust system. Left and right on a twin-pipe exhaust system.  
22 Install impact absorber    
23 Install rear bumper   AR88.20-P-2200EW
INSPECT Check     
24 Conduct function check on mechanical swing-away trailer hitch   AR31.19-P-1450EW 
25 Perform function test of light signals at trailer hitch socket
