Correct inclination angle at the center (∠ 2)
To correct the inclination angle, install shop-made shims at the propeller shaft intermediate bearing. A 1 mm thick shim changes the inclination angle by approx. 0.17°. When using shims > 2 mm thick, increase the bolt length by 5 mm. If a shim > 5 mm thick is required, check the front engine mount and rear engine mount for signs of settling or wear and replace if necessary.
- Detach underfloor paneling on left and right in area of heat shields.
- Support propeller shaft.
- Remove crossmember.
- Detach and remove heat shields.
- Remove bolts (7a) from propeller shaft intermediate bearing.
- Insert shop-made shims between frame floor assembly and propeller shaft center support bearing (arrows).
The dimensions for the shims must be taken at the propeller shaft intermediate bearing, see following picture.
- Tighten screws/bolts (7a) of propeller shaft intermediate bearing.
Observe specified tightening torque.
- Install heat shields.
- Attach crossmember.
- Remove transmission jack and transmission plate.
- Remove underfloor paneling on left and right.
