Correct inclination angle at the center (∠ 2)

To correct the inclination angle, install shop-made shims at the propeller shaft intermediate bearing. A 1 mm thick shim changes the inclination angle by approx. 0.17°. When using shims > 2 mm thick, increase the bolt length by 5 mm. If a shim > 5 mm thick is required, check the front engine mount and rear engine mount for signs of settling or wear and replace if necessary.

  1. Detach underfloor paneling on left and right in area of heat shields.
  2. Support propeller shaft.
  3. Remove crossmember.
  4. Detach and remove heat shields.
  5. Remove bolts (7a) from propeller shaft intermediate bearing.
  6. Insert shop-made shims between frame floor assembly and propeller shaft center support bearing (arrows).

IMPORTANT The dimensions for the shims must be taken at the propeller shaft intermediate bearing, see following picture.

  7. Tighten screws/bolts (7a) of propeller shaft intermediate bearing.

    IMPORTANT Observe specified tightening torque.

  8. Install heat shields.
  9. Attach crossmember.
  10. Remove transmission jack and transmission plate.
  11. Remove underfloor paneling on left and right.
