Remove/install heater unit - AR83.70-P-5302EW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open engine hood and move to vertical position Model 218

DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

2 Release overpressure in coolant circuit IMPORTANT To do so, slowly unscrew cap of coolant expansion reservoir.  
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
3 Raise vehicle with vehicle lift    
4 Remove right front section on fender liner in front fender    
5 Remove bolts (1)    
6 Disconnect electrical connector (2)    
7 Disconnect electrical connector (3)    
8 Detach coolant hoses (4, 5, 6) with pinch-off pliers (7)    
9 Detach coolant hoses (4, 5, 6) Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps  
10 Disconnect electrical connector (8)    
11 Unscrew nut (9)    
12 Unscrew nut (10)    
13 Disconnect fuel hose (11) from fuel line (12)    
14 Remove stationary heater (A6) with bracket (13)    
15 Install in the reverse order    
16 Pour in coolant and bleed cooling system IMPORTANT Use clean coolant again. AR20.00-P-1142-04A

DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel vapors igniting, Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling combustible gases and risk of injury  caused by burns during and after operation of heater unit Do not operate stationary heater, auxiliary heater or engine with heater booster in closed areas or when refueling. Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear protective gloves. AS83.70-Z-0002-01A
17 Carry out initial startup of stationary heater using STAR DIAGNOSIS IMPORTANT If the stationary heater unit (A6) switches off automatically before reaching its operating temperature and cannot be restarted again a malfunction interlock is present. This fault interlock can be canceled using STAR DIAGNOSIS.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
