Replace tires - AR40.10-P-1030EW

2.1 Detach wheel balance weight (43a) using assembly tool For clamped wheel balance weight (43a).

NOTES Do not use hard, pointed or sharp-edged tools. Otherwise the surface of the disk wheels may be damaged.

5 Position the press-off blade of the tire mounting device on the tire bead flank NOTES Do not position bead breaker shovel on tire sidewall.
The carcass can be damaged otherwise.
NOTES Do not position bead breaker shovel on the inner and outer side of the tire near the valve (43g).
The valve (43g) and/or tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) can be damaged otherwise.
NOTES Do not position the bead breaker shovel opposite the bead edge of the valve (43g). The tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) may be damaged otherwise.

6 Press inner and outer bead flank over safety bead seats and into drop center of disk wheel    
7 Fasten disk wheel on tire mounting device    
8 Apply coating of assembly paste onto disk wheel flange and tire beads NOTES MODEL 117, 156, 176, 205, 217, 242, 246 with CODE 475 (Tire pressure monitoring system)

Do not grease the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
Otherwise the tire pressure sensor may malfunction.

9 Position disk wheel on the tire mounting device IMPORTANT Position the disk wheel so that the valve (43g) is 10 cm behind the assembly head, viewed in the direction of rotation (arrow) of the disk wheel.  
10 Align mounting head at small distances (X, Y) to disk wheel    
11.1 Use assembly lever to lever the tire beads over the mounting lug of the mounting head and detach the tire from the disk wheel For tires without emergency running characteristics.

11.2 Position hold-down tool on upper side of bead edge and press tire into drop center, then position hold-down tool on lower side and remove tire For run-flat tires.

INSPECT Check     
12 Check condition of disk wheel   AR40.10-P-1010-01A 
13.1 Check tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) and valve body (3) in the installed condition for damage MODEL 117, 156, 176, 205, 217, 242, 246 with CODE 475 (Tire pressure monitoring system)

NOTES Do not retighten union nut (2).
The tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) will be damaged otherwise.
NOTES Only use plastic valve caps.
Otherwise corrosion damage may occur.
IMPORTANT If the union nut (2) or the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) is obviously loose or if damage is visible, the affected tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) must be replaced.
 
13.2 Install new valve (43g) MODEL 117, 156, 176, 205, 217, 242, 246 without CODE 475 (Tire pressure monitoring system)

NOTES Only remove dirt with a clean, lint-free cloth. Do not use compressed air, solvents or cleaners.
The tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4) will be damaged otherwise.

15 Apply coating of assembly paste to shoulders of disk wheel and tire bead of new tire NOTES

Do not grease the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
Otherwise the tire pressure sensor may malfunction.

16 Position disk wheel on the tire mounting device IMPORTANT Position the disk wheel so that the valve (43g) is approximately 180° opposite the mounting head.

17 Place new tire at an angle on disk wheel and align mounting head at small distances (X, Y) to disk wheel IMPORTANT Observe running direction on unidirectional tires.
Observe the markings indicating the inside and outside of the tire.
On vehicles with mixed tires observe the correct assignment of the tire to disk wheel.
 
18.1 Pull tire over shoulder onto disk wheel with tire mounting device For tires without emergency running characteristics.

Do not exert any force on the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4).
Otherwise it will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Load the tire beads as little as possible.
 
18.2 Position hold-down tool on bead edge, push tire into drop center, then position the bead protector at the traction point, and pull tire using tire mounting device over the flange onto the disk wheel For run-flat tires.

Do not exert any force on the tire pressure sensor (A69/1, A69/2, A69/3, A69/4). Otherwise it will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Load the tire beads as little as possible.
 
19 Align the match points of the tire and disk wheel relative to one another    
20 Remove disk wheel with tire from tire mounting device    
21 Remove valve element from valve (43g)    
22 Inflate tires NOTES The tire pressure must not exceed 3.3 bar. Otherwise the tire bead may be damaged.
