Seal front axle transmission - AR33.30-P-0542SYZ

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove front axle transmission (1) MODEL 222 with ENGINE 278 with TRANSMISSION 722.96 AR33.30-P-0525LFX
    MODEL 216, 221 with TRANSMISSION 722.96 AR33.30-P-0525SYZ
    MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218
NOTES
Absolute cleanliness is essential when working on the front axle transmission (1).
If not observed, even minute dirt particles can prevent the front axle transmission (1) from functioning correctly.		 AR33.30-P-0525CWX 
DISASSEMBLINGDISASSEMBLING Disassemble/assemble     
  Seal off primary shaft (5)     
2 Remove collar nut (4m) using retainer wrench from drive flange (4) and remove adjusting ring (4a) from drive flange (4) IMPORTANT The SPECIAL TOOL retainer wrench is secured to the drive flange with just one bolt.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace collar nut (4m).
The adjusting ring (4a) determines the bearing preload of the front axle transmission (1) and therefore it must on no account be replaced. If the adjusting ring 4a) is lost, the front axle transmission (1) must be replaced.		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Collar bolt, joint flange to drive pinion *BA33.30-P-1003-03G

3 Mark position of drive flange (4) relative to primary shaft (5)    
4 Pull off drive flange (4) SPECIAL TOOL Puller Figure
5 Use suitable tool to pry radial shaft sealing ring (2r) out of front axle transmission (1)    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7)   Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7). MB 235.7/235.74 FE hypoid gear oil A 001 989 33 03/Mobilube FE/FE Plus 75W-85
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace radial shaft sealing ring (2r). Coat sealing lip of radial shaft sealing ring (2r) using universal hypoid gear oil.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Drive radial shaft sealing ring (2r) using SPECIAL TOOL drift into front axle transmission.

6 Assemble in the reverse order    
  Seal pinion housing (2)     
7 Remove screws/bolts (2s) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Collar bolt, retaining collar to front axle transmission *BA33.30-P-1004-03G 
8 Pull pinion housing (2) with retaining ring (2f) out of front axle transmission (1)   AR33.30-P-0469-01SYZ 
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The milled area (f) must face upward to ensure oil flow in the pinion housing (2).

9 Remove shim (2a) and sealing ring (2d) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seal.  
10 Assemble in the reverse order    
  Seal cover (3) and replace radial shaft sealing rings (1r, 3r)     
11 Pull out radial shaft sealing rings (1r, 3r) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace radial shaft sealing rings (1r, 3r).

12 Remove bolts (3s) and remove cover (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Collar bolt, cover to front axle transmission *BA33.30-P-1001-03G 
13 Remove sealing ring (3d) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing ring (3d).  
14 Assemble in the reverse order    
INSTALLING Install     
15 Install front axle transmission (1) MODEL 222 with ENGINE 278 with TRANSMISSION 722.96 AR33.30-P-0525LFX
    MODEL 216, 221 with TRANSMISSION 722.96 AR33.30-P-0525SYZ
    MODEL 204, 207, 212, 218
