Remove/install headliner - AR68.30-P-4300EW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1.1 Open panoramic sliding roof On vehicles with code (413) Panoramic sliding roof  
1.2 Open tilting/sliding roof On vehicles with code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof  
2 Remove right rear door sill molding   AR68.30-P-4100EW 
3 Completely remove edge guard (14) on door cutout of right rear door    
4.1 Remove rear seat backrest On vehicles with code (882) Interior monitoring (with ATA only) and without code (287)
Through-loading feature or without code (224) Design individual rear seat system

4.2 Remove rear seat backrest On vehicles with code (882) Interior monitoring (with ATA only) and with code (224) Design individual rear seat system AR91.12-P-1620EW
4.3 Remove side upholstery On vehicles with code (882) Interior monitoring (with ATA only) and with code (287) Through-loading feature AR91.12-P-1710CW
5 Detach bottom paneling on left B-pillar so that top paneling can be removed    
6 Remove top paneling from left B-pillar IMPORTANT Lay top paneling down to side with belt end fitting attached.  
7 Remove bottom paneling and top paneling from right B-pillar IMPORTANT Lay top paneling down to side with belt end fitting attached.  
8 Remove left and right C-pillar paneling (4) IMPORTANT Lay C-pillar paneling (4) down to side with belt end fitting attached. AR68.30-P-4490EW 
9 Detach remaining edge guards (14) in area of headliner (1)    
10 Open cable duct (2), disconnect electrical connector on interior protection (X42/28) and expose wiring harness on headliner and sliding roof (18) from cable duct (2) On vehicles with code (882) Interior monitoring (with ATA only)  
11 Unclip headliner cover (3) and remove IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (220) PARKTRONIC or with code (230) Exclusive parking assist, disconnect electrical connector on rear PARKTRONIC warning indicator (A44/3).  
12 Remove rear dome lamp (E15/3) Only when replacing headliner (1).  
13 Unclip clips (5) from headliner (1)    
14 Remove roller sun blind (12) from counterbearing    
15 Remove overhead control panel control unit (N70) or overhead control panel electronics (N70/3) IMPORTANT Depending on vehicle equipment. AR82.20-P-1000CW
16 Remove left sun visor mirror lamp (E14/1) and right sun visor mirror lamp (E14/2) Only when replacing headliner (1).  
17 Remove inside rearview mirror (A67)    
18 Unclip and remove cover (16)    
19 Disconnect electrical connector (10) from rain/light sensor (B38/2)    
20 Remove inside rearview mirror bracket (8)    
21 Remove clip (7)    
22 Remove grab handles (11) on roof    
23 Move driver and passenger seat (19) toward rear and position backrest downward so that largest possible gap (arrows) is present between passenger seat and B-pillar NOTES On vehicles with code (864) Rear entertainment system, when folding down backrest, ensure that the left rear display and right rear display are not damaged This clearance (arrows) is required to remove the headliner (1) from the vehicle through the right rear door cutout.  
24 Detach headliner (1) on Velcro strips (17) from roof paneling    
25 Unhook headliner (1) from frame (15) of sliding roof and panoramic roof On vehicles with code (413) Panorama sliding roof or code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof  
26 Slide headliner (1) toward rear until hooks (6) disengage from mounts on roof paneling. Then lay headliner (1) down on seats INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Position headliner (1) below A-pillar panelings (13) when moving forward. Position headliner (1) above electrical wiring harnesses (9)  
27 Arch headliner (1) at front and rear with aid of helper, then align headliner in vehicle so that headliner (1) can be moved out of rear door cutout toward rear. NOTES Do not arch headliner (1) excessively, otherwise headliner (1) can be damaged.  
28 Guide headliner (1) through gap (arrows) toward rear out of right rear door cutout. Always keep headliner (1) arched. NOTES When moving out headliner (1), ensure that the edge areas of the headliner (1) are not kinked or graze against the adjacent components. Otherwise the headliner (1) can be damaged.  
29 Install in the reverse order
