Removing, installing windowbag - AR91.60-P-0693EW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units. Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply. AS91.00-Z-0001-01A

IMPORTANT Assessment of airbag and belt tensioner units in accident vehicles   AH91.00-P-0006-01B
IMPORTANT Legal requirements on handling and storing airbags and emergency tensioning retractor units   AH91.00-P-0004-01A
1 Open panoramic roof On vehicles with code (413) Panoramic sliding roof  
2 Open tilting/sliding roof On vehicles with code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof  
3 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button from electronic ignition lock control unit IMPORTANT KEYLESS-GO start/stop button only on vehicles with code (889) Keyless-Go.  
4.1 Loosen headliner until windowbag unit (1) can be removed MODEL 212.0/1  
AR68.30-P-4300EW
4.2 Loosen headliner until windowbag unit (1) can be removed MODEL 218.3  
4.3 Remove headliner Model 212.2  
5 Disconnect ground line of battery Disconnect/connect battery ground line AR54.10-P-0003EW
6 Disconnect electrical connector (6) from left windowbag squib (R12/22) or right windowbag squib (R12/23) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Electrical connector (6) must audibly engage when being plugged in.  
7 Unclip covers (7) above brackets (3) on windowbag unit (1) and remove    
8 Slightly lift clips (4) on brackets (3) on lugs (2) and release in direction of arrow    
9 Unhook brackets (3) from mounts on roof    
10 Remove bolts (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt/nut, windowbag unit to roof frame *BA91.60-P-1006-01M 
11 Unclip clip (8) of check strap (9) at roof paneling Model 212.2
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace clip (8).
 
12 Remove windowbag unit (1) NOTES Carefully remove windowbag unit (1).
To avoid damaging the interior equipment.
 
13 Install in the reverse order    
14 Check supplemental restraint system (SRS) with STAR DIAGNOSIS After installing new windowbag unit (1).
