Remove/install head restraint on front seat - AR91.16-P-0040CW

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

2 Move front seat backrest toward rear IMPORTANT Adjust front seat backrest toward rear until head restraint (1) can be removed from front seat backrest  
3.1 Disconnect battery ground line MODEL 212, 218

3.2 Switch off the ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS control unit MODEL 211 MODEL 219 MODEL 463
IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (889) Keyless-Go: Press Keyless-Go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off. Remove the transmitter key from the vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 meters).
 
4 Disconnect driver NECK-PRO head restraint electrical connector (X150/1) or front passenger NECK-PRO head restraint electrical connector (X150/2)    
5 Unclip head restraint (1) from left and right mount (3) of bracket (4) MODEL 204.0 (except 204.077), 204.2 (except 204.277), 204.9 with CODE 242 (Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory), MODEL 204.0 (except 204.077), 204.2 (except 204.277), 204.9 with CODE 275 (Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)), MODEL 212, 218 with CODE 275 (Memory package for electrically adjustable front seats), MODEL 463
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure head restraint supports (10) are properly seated in mounts (3) of bracket (4).
 
6 Route electrical line (5) of head restraint (1) through right mount (3) IMPORTANT Observe routing of electrical line (5).  
7 Unhook securing strap (2) of cover from backrest frame (8) and pull cover upwards until spring (6) of head restraint guide (7) is accessible IMPORTANT Do not pull cover too far upward.
Otherwise cover can tear at seam.
 
8.1 Lift spring (6) of left head restraint guide (7), pull out head restraint (1) and route electrical line (5) through the right head restraint guide (7) MODEL 204.0 (except 204.077), 204.2 (except 204.277), 204.9
without CODE 242 (Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory)

IMPORTANT To remove the head restraint (1) the head restraint (1) must be unlocked at the left head restraint guide (7) using the adjustment button.
 
8.2 Lift spring (6) of left head restraint guide (7) and remove head restraint (1) MODEL 463  
9 Remove head restraint (1)    
10 Install in the reverse order
