Remove/install steering column tube - AR46.10-P-0400EW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1 Insert transmitter key into electronic ignition lock control unit Model 212 without code (427) 7-speed automatic transmission.
The transmitter key must not be removed, otherwise the electronic steering lock will lock and cannot be removed.
 
2 Move steering column tube (7) forward and downward    
3 Rotate the steering wheel to the center position IMPORTANT Front wheels in straight-ahead position.  
4 Remove steering column tube module   AR54.25-P-2802EW
5 Remove cover (1) from instrument cluster (A1) Model 212 AR54.30-P-6015EW
Model 218 AR54.30-P-6015EL
6 Remove leather bag (2)    
7 Connect electrical connector at steering column tube module With code (275) Memory package for electrically adjustable front seats AR54.25-P-2802-02CW
8 Move steering column tube (7) backward and upward    
9 Disconnect electrical connector at steering column tube module With code (275) Memory package for electrically adjustable front seats AR54.25-P-2802-02CW
10 Remove left cover below dashboard    
11 Remove cover above pedal assembly If necessary.  
12 Detach vent duct (3) Vehicles with mechanically adjustable steering column.  
13 Disconnect electrical connectors (b) at steering column in/out adjustment motor (M20/1) and at steering column up/down adjustment motor (M20/2) With code (275) Memory package for electrically adjustable front seats  
14 Detach electrical connector (a) at steering column tube (7) Model 212 without code (427) 7-speed automatic transmission.  
15 Detach lower steering shaft (15) from steering column tube (7) IMPORTANT The clamping connection of the lower steering shaft (15) must not be bent up.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace bolt of clamp connector.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.10-P-1003-01M 
16 Slide lower steering shaft (15) downwards    
17 Remove bolts (11a, 11b, 12a, 12b) IMPORTANT Note the different bolt lengths.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Screw in all bolts loosely. Tighten the right rear bolt (12a) first, then the right front bolt (11a). Then tighten the left bolts (11b, 12b).
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.10-P-1001-03Q 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.10-P-1002-03Q 
18 Cover carrier (4) with rag Vehicles with code (294) Kneebag
IMPORTANT In order to prevent damage to the kneebag.
 
19.1 Tilt steering column tube (7) to right and remove through footwell With code (275) Memory package for electrically adjustable front seats  
19.2 Tilt steering column tube (7) to right and remove upward at angle Vehicles with mechanically adjustable steering column.  
20 Detach electronic steering lock When replacing the steering column tube (7) on model 212 without code (427) 7-speed automatic transmission. AR46.10-P-0910EW 
21 Install in the reverse order
