Remove/install hydraulic line of power steering - AR46.25-P-3015EV

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
    NOTES Before opening the hydraulic system the area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.  
1 Open engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000EW
2.1 Remove left engine intake air duct and engine cover Engine 272, 273, 642
INSTALLATION NOTESengine 642:  Ignition switched off.
 
2.2 Remove engine air intake duct and engine cover Model 212 with engine 651  
2.3 Remove front engine cover Engine 276  
3 Suction off oil from expansion reservoir (6) SPECIAL TOOL Figure
  Remove return line (3)     
4.1 Remove engine compartment paneling Vehicles with gasoline engine AR61.20-P-1105EW
4.2 Remove lower bottom sections of soundproofing Vehicles with diesel engine AR94.30-P-5300EW
5 Remove bolt (5) and remove return line (3) from front axle carrier    
6 Detach return line (3) from radiator (1) IMPORTANT Collect oil which runs out and seal connections immediately.

7 Remove bolt for bracket of return line to rack-and-pinion steering Model 207 with 4MATIC  
IMPORTANT *BA46.20-P-1004-01N 
8 Remove bolt (4), pull return line (3) out of rack-and-pinion steering and remove return line (3) IMPORTANT Collect oil which runs out and seal connections immediately.

TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.20-P-1003-01N 
  Remove return line (2)     
9 Detach return line (2) from expansion reservoir (6) IMPORTANT Collect oil which runs out and seal connections immediately.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Mount return line (2) on expansion reservoir (6) using screw-type clamp.

10 Detach return line (2) from radiator (1) IMPORTANT Collect oil which runs out and seal connections immediately.

11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Fill power steering pump and bleed Model 207 AR46.30-P-0010CW
Model 212 AR46.30-P-0010EW 
INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

13 Test run engine and check steering system for leaks
