Checking oil pressure of power steering pump - AR46.30-P-0100EW

REMOVING Removing     
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.   AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
    NOTES Before opening the hydraulic circuit of the power steering, thoroughly clean the area surrounding the separation point. Even minute particles of dirt, introduced into the hydraulic components, can result in malfunctions or damage to the power steering.  
1 Open engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000EW
2.1 Remove left engine intake air duct and engine cover Engine 272, 273, 642
INSTALLATION NOTESengine 642:  Ignition switched off.
IMPORTANT Pull off engine cover upwards.
 
2.2 Remove engine air intake duct and engine cover Engine 651
IMPORTANT Pull off engine cover upwards.
 
3 Extract oil from power steering expansion reservoir SPECIAL TOOL Figure
4 Detach pressure line (1) from power steering pump (2)    
5 Remove center and front engine compartment paneling Engine 273 AR61.20-P-1105EW
6 Attach test adapter (02b) to pressure line (1) IMPORTANTEngine 273:  The test adapter (02b) can only be attached to the pressure line (1) from below.

7 Attach test adapter (02a) to power steering pump (2) SPECIAL TOOL Fig 4
8 Attach test equipment (01) between test adapter (02b) and test adapter (02a) SPECIAL TOOL Figure
9 Fill and bleed power steering pump (2) Model 207 AR46.30-P-0010CW
Model 212 AR46.30-P-0010EW 
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

10 Start engine and allow it to run at engine speed of approx. 1000 rpm
INSPECT Checking     
11 Close throttle cock (01a) and check maximum operating pressure   *BE46.30-P-1001-01G 
12 Turn off engine    
13 Extract oil from power steering expansion reservoir SPECIAL TOOL Figure
14 Detach testing unit (01)    
15 Detach test adapter (02b) and test adapter (02a)    
INSTALLING Install     
16 Attach pressure line (1) to power steering pump (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 207 *BA46.30-P-1004-01R 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 212 *BA46.30-P-1004-01T 
17 Fill and bleed power steering pump (2) Model 212 AR46.30-P-0010EW 
Model 207 AR46.30-P-0010CW
INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

18 Test run engine and check steering system for leaks
19.1 Install left engine air intake duct and engine cover Engine 272, 273, 642
IMPORTANTEngine 642:  Ignition switched off.
 
19.2 Install engine air intake duct and engine cover Engine 651
