Function requirements, general

Convenience feature (CF), general

The CF function allows the side windows and tilting/sliding roof or panoramic sliding sunroof to be opened and closed centrally.

On vehicles with code (401) Front comfort seats including seat heater and seat ventilation, the seat ventilation is also activated when opening with the transmitter key.

The CF comprises the following subfunctions:

Additional function requirements for CF (opening/closing) via transmitter key

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the terminal status 15 via the interior CAN.

The status of the left front door is sensed by the left front door control unit, the status of the right front door by the right front door control unit.).

The rear SAM control unit senses the status of the rear doors and the trunk lid (model 212.0/1) or trunk lid (model 212.2).

The information is sent via the interior CAN.

Function sequence for CF (opening/closing) via transmitter key

When the unlock and lock button on the transmitter key is actuated for t > 2 s, it transmits infrared signals with access authorization to the left front door control unit via the driver front door infrared remote control receiver (precise aiming required) and a direct line. The left front door control unit sends this information over the interior CAN to the electronic ignition lock control unit. The electronic ignition switch control unit checks the transmitter key's access authorization. If the access authorization is valid, the electronic ignition lock control unit transmits it to the left door control unit.

The left door control unit then actuates the left front door power window motor accordingly and transmits the signal "Convenience feature mode" and "Convenience feature direction" to the following control units:

Function sequence for CF (opening/closing) via air recirculation button (without code (494) USA version)

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the status of terminal 15 to the automatic air conditioning control and operating unit via the interior CAN.

Function sequence for CF (opening/closing) via air recirculation button (without code (494) USA version)

When the air recirculation button on the automatic air conditioning operation and control unit is pressed for longer than t = 2 s, the function is started.

When the air recirculation mode is switched on, the open side windows and the tilting/sliding roof or the panoramic roof sliding roof are closed.

Previously store current position. When the air recirculation mode is switched on, the side windows and the tilting/sliding roof or the panoramic roof sliding roof are closed to previously stored position.

The automatic climate control and operating unit transmits the corresponding requests via interior CAN to the following control units:

IMPORTANT Actuation of individual actuators is described in section "Function sequence for CF [KFB] via transmitter key".

Additional function requirements for CF (locking) via KEYLESS-GO (with code (889) KEYLESS-GO)

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the status of circuit 15 and the central locking status over the interior CAN.

The status of the left front door is sensed by the left front door control unit, the status of the right front door by the right front door control unit.). The rear SAM control unit senses the status of the rear doors and the trunk lid (model 212.0/1) or trunk lid (model 212.2).

The information is sent via the interior CAN.

IMPORTANT Detailed information on position determination and checking access authorization of the transmitter key is given in the separate partial function "KEYLESS-GO function".

Function sequence for CF (locking) via KEYLESS-GO (with code (889) KEYLESS-GO)

When the comfort sensor on a KEYLESS-GO door handle is actuated, the comfort closing function is requested. The KEYLESS-GO control unit reads in the status of the comfort sensor on a KEYLESS-GO door handle and sends the "Confront closing" request to the following control units via the interior CAN:

IMPORTANT Actuation of individual actuators is described in section "Function sequence for CF [KFB] via transmitter key".

Convenience closing is interrupted in the following cases:

If during comfort closed or max. t = 2 s after the same KEYLESS-GO door handle is pulled, the emergency opening function is activated. In this case, the side windows, the tilting/sliding roof or the panoramic sliding roof are actuated in the opening direction. Actuation is performed for min. t = 2 s or as long as the KEYLESS-GO door handle is pulled, max. for t = 90 s.
