Remove/install automatic transmission oil pan - AR27.10-P-7030EH

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Raise vehicle with vehicle lift    
2.1 Remove corresponding lower engine compartment paneling and its bracket from under the transmission TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 205, 222

2.2 Remove corresponding bottom section of soundproofing TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 212 with ENGINE 651

CLEAN Clean     
5 Clean oil pan (1) and surrounding area thoroughly    
6 Shift telescopic lifter to rear TRANSMISSION 724.2 in MODEL 222  
7 Drain the transmission oil and collect for determining the quantity of transmission IMPORTANT Unscrew drain screw (2) and pry off overflow pipe (3) using SPECIAL TOOL drift (4) from base (arrow). The remaining transmission oil drains out immediately after prying off.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Drain screw (2) is screwed in after transmission has been filled.

8 Remove bolts (5), remove sprag (6) and detach oil pan (1) from transmission housing (7) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The sprags (6) are approved only for transmission 724.2 and must not be interchanged with sprags (6) of other transmissions.
Otherwise contact corrosion may occur.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace bolts (5).
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, oil pan to transmission housing *BA27.10-P-1002-03D 
9 Remove overflow pipe (3) from oil pan (1) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace overflow pipe (3) and press firmly onto the base (arrow).
The distance from the upper edge of the overflow pipe (3) determines the filling capacity of the transmission.
 
10 Remove gasket (8) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Always replace seal (8).
Do not apply any sealant or sealing compound to the sealing surfaces of the oil pan (1) and transmission housing (7).
 
11 Remove oil filter (9) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace oil filter (9) and pipe (10).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, oil filter to electrohydraulic controller unit *BA27.10-P-1015-04G 
CLEAN Clean     
12 Remove magnets (11) from oil pan (1) and clean them    
13 Clean oil pan (1) NOTES The sealing surfaces on the oil pan (1) and transmission housing (7) must be completely free from oil and grease.
Leaks can occur otherwise.
IMPORTANT Have the cleaning sprays completely extracted.
 
INSPECT Check     
14 Check magnets (11) If damage is present:

Install new magnets (11).
 
15 Install in the reverse order    
16 Fill transmission with transmission fluid   AR27.00-P-0270EH 
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
17 Test run engine and check transmission for leaktightness and proper operation
