Front Passenger Airbag Assembly: Removal

CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (See PRECAUTION  ).

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
   CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
2. SEPARATE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH  (See REMOVAL )
3. SEPARATE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH  (See REMOVAL )
4. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH  (See REMOVAL )
5. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH  (See REMOVAL )
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL  (See REMOVAL )
7. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH CENTER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL RETAINER  (See REMOVAL )
10. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
11. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL  (See REMOVAL )
12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a thin-bladed screwdriver, release the locking button.

    2. Using a thin-bladed screwdriver, disconnect the 2 airbag connectors and remove the instrument panel wire assembly.
13. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the wire harness from the claw on the instrument panel.
    2. Remove the 2 screws.

    3. Disengage the 10 hooks and remove the front passenger airbag.
