Lower Instrument Panel: Removal

  1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT 

    HINT:

    All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet codes in the table below.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH  (See REMOVAL )
  7. SEPARATE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH  (See REMOVAL )
  8. SEPARATE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH CENTER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
  12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH LOWER PANEL  (See REMOVAL  )
  13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
  14. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
  16. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
  17. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) 
    1. Turn the shift lever knob counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob.

  18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH CENTER LOWER PANEL 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips, 4 claws and remove the instrument cluster finish center lower panel.
    2. Disconnect the hazard warning switch connector.

  19. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws and guide and remove the front console box insert.

  20. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws and guide and remove the front console box insert.

  21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL (for Manual Transaxle) 
    1. Remove the 2 < A > screws.

    2. Disengage the 6 clips and remove the instrument panel finish lower panel.

  22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL (for Automatic Transaxle) 
    1. Remove the 4 < A > screws.

    2. Disengage the 6 clips and remove the instrument panel finish lower panel.

  23. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)  (See REMOVAL )
  24. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)  (See REMOVAL )
  25. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)  (See REMOVAL )
  26. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)  (See REMOVAL )
  27. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING PANEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  28. DISCONNECT NO. 2 HEATER CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  29. DISCONNECT AIR MIX DAMPER CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  30. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips, 3 claws and remove the switch hole base
    2. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

  31. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips and the 7 claws and remove the instrument panel finish lower panel.
    2. Disconnect the each connectors.

  32. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB REINFORCEMENT 
    1. Remove the 2 < D > bolts and remove the instrument panel sub reinforcement.

  33. REMOVE RADIO BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 < G > bolt and remove the No. 1 radio bracket.
    2. Remove the 2 < G > bolt and remove the No. 2 radio bracket.

  34. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SEAL 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the instrument cluster finish panel seal.

  35. SEPARATE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws and separate the hood lock control lever.

  36. SEPARATE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 clamps and separate the antenna cord.

  37. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and disconnect the DLC3 connector.

    2. Disconnect the front passenger seat belt warning light connector.
    3. Disconnect the 2 clamps.
    4. Remove the < A > screw, 10 < C > screws, 2 < E > bolts, < F > screw and remove the lower instrument panel.

  38. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front passenger seat belt warning light.

  39. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the claw and remove the glove compartment door stopper.

  40. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX 
    1. Remove the 8 < A > screws and the instrument panel box.
