Roof Headlining: Removal

CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (See PRECAUTION ).
  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag from working.
  2. REMOVE REAR FLOOR CARPET ASSEMBLY 
    1. Release the 2 knobs and remove the rear floor carpet.

  3. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX 
    1. Remove the rear deck floor box.

  4. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX RH 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and remove the deck floor box.

  5. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX LH 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and remove the deck floor box.

  6. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION WITH COVER PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 
    1. Disengage the 10 claws and remove the front door scuff plate.

  10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH 
    1. Disengage the clip, claw and guide and remove the cowl side trim board.

  12. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  13. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 
    1. Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip.
  14. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  15. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 
    1. Disengage the 8 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate.
  16. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  17. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 
    1. Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip.
  18. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  19. REMOVE REAR DECK TRIM COVER 
    1. Disengage the 4 clips, 4 claws and 2 guides and remove the rear deck trim cover.

  20. REMOVE LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for both sides.

    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 luggage hold belt strikers.

  21. REMOVE REAR SEAT BACK HINGE 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for both sides.

    1. Remove the bolt and rear seat back hinge.

  22. REMOVE REAR SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the belt from the rear seat shoulder belt hanger
    2. Remove the bolt and floor anchor

  24. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Using a clip remover, remove the clip.
    2. Disengage the 6 clips and 7 claws and remove the deck trim side panel.

  25. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Using a clip remover, remove the clip.
    2. Disengage the 6 clips and 7 claws and remove the deck trim side panel
    3. Disconnect the luggage compartment light connector

  26. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Using a clip remover, remove the clip.
    2. Disengage the 7 clips and remove the roof side inner garnish.
    3. Pass the rear seat outer belt through the slit in the roof side inner garnish.
  27. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH ASSEMBLY LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  28. REMOVE SEAT BELT ANCHOR COVER CAP 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for both sides.

    1. Pull portion A, shown in the illustration, toward you, remove the 2 claws on the lower side followed by the claw on the upper side. Then remove the seat belt anchor cover cap.

  29. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the bolt and through anchor.

  31. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR LOWER GARNISH RH 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips, 3 claws and guide and remove the center pillar lower garnish.

  33. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR UPPER GARNISH RH 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips and guide and remove the center pillar upper garnish.

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  35. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH NOTICE: 
    • Install a protective cover onto the curtain shield airbag as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.
    • Replace the front pillar garnish clip with a new one when the front pillar garnish is removed.
    1. Disengage the 2 clips and 2 guides and remove the front pillar garnish.

    2. Completely coyer the curtain shield airbag with a piece of cloth or nylon and fix the ends of the protective cover with adhesive tape, as shown in the illustration.

  36. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  37. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure to remove all assist grips.

    1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 assist grip covers.

    2. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the assist grip

  38. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the visor cover

    2. Remove the visor shaft from the visor holder.
    3. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the visor.
  39. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY LH

  40. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

    1. Turn the visor holder approximately 45° and pull it out as shown in the illustration.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the visor holder.

  41. REMOVE ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the room light lens.

    2. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 room light covers.

    3. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the room light.

    4. Remove the roof wire from the claw on the room light.
    5. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the room light switch base.

  42. REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 claws and remove the map light.

    2. Disconnect the map light connector

  49. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING 
    1. Disconnect the antenna cord connector
    2. Using a clip remover, disengage the 4 clamps.

    3. Disconnect the roof wire connector
    4. Disconnect the roof wire from the harness clamp.
    5. Using a clip remover, disengage the 5 clamps.

    6. Disconnect the 2 connectors.
    7. Remove the bolt and bracket.

    8. Using a clip remover, remove the 5 clips.

    9. Remove the roof headlining from the back door.
