Inspection Procedure

  1. CONFIRM DTC OUTPUT (CAN COMMUNICATION DTC) 
    1. Check DTC (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTC U0129 is not output A
      DTC U0129 is output B

    B:  Go TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CONFIRM DTC OUTPUT (SPEED SENSOR DTC) 
    1. Check DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTC C0200/31, C0205/32, C0210/33 and/or C0215/34 is not output A
      DTC C0200/31, C0205/32, C0210/33 and/or C0215/34 is output B

    B: Go TO  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (SPEED METER) 
    1. Connect an intelligent tester or a Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
    3. Operate the intelligent tester or Techstream according to the display and select "ACTIVE TEST" or "Active Test" (See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST  ).
      1. Intelligent tester

        Body / Combination Meter / ACTIVE TEST: 

        BODY / COMBINATION METER / ACTIVE TEST

      2. Techstream

        Speed Meter Operation 0 / 24 (40) / 48 (80) / 72 (120) / 96 (160) /120 (200) mph (km/h) Value selected during Active Test is displayed

        OK: 

        Vehicle speed displayed on the tester is approximately the same as that of the speedometer reading. 

    NG : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (SPEED METER) 
    1. Connect an intelligent tester or a Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and the tester on.
    3. Operate the intelligent tester or Techstream according to the display and select "DATA LIST" or "Data List" (See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST  ).
      1. Intelligent tester

      2. Techstream

        OK: 

        Vehicle speed displayed on the tester is approximately the same as the actual vehicle speed 

        NOTE: Determine whether the value displayed on the tester is within the acceptable range by referring to reference values described in "ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION " .

    NG: Go to step 5 

    OK : USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

  5. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the combination meter assembly with a new or a normal one (See REMOVAL  ).

      OK: 

      The operation of the speedometer returns to normal. 

    NG : REPLACE ABS AND TRACTION ACTUATOR (SKID CONTROL ECU)  (See REMOVAL )

    OK : END
