Replacing power-steering gear

Information
- The new steering gear comes as an assembly - it is simply a matter of taking the existing tie-rod balls and lock nuts from the old steering gear and fitting them on the new one .
- Check tie-rod balls for wear and replace them if necessary .
- Check that the bellows are seated correctly to prevent water from leaking in .
- Remove steering gear → 489055 REPLACING POWER-STEERING GEAR .
- Loosen the two tie-rod balls -1- from the tie rods on the removed steering gear.
- Unscrew and remove tie-rod ball -3-
and lock nut -2-
from the tie rod -1-
.
- Screw lock nut -2- and tie-rod ball -3- onto the new steering gear.
- Install steering gear → 489055 REPLACING POWER-STEERING GEAR
