Preliminary work

If only the fresh air/recirculated air/ram air housing will be removed: 

  1. Remove glove compartment → 681519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING GLOVE COMPARTMENT .
  2. Remove footwell outlet vent at the front right → 805519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT FOOTWELL OUTLET VENT .

    If the entire heating/fresh-air unit will be removed: 

  3. Disconnect battery ground strap → 270519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING BATTERY SENSOR .
  4. Drain refrigerant → 870317 DRAINING AND FILLING REFRIGERANT .
  5. Drain coolant → 193817 DRAINING AND FILLING COOLANT .
  6. Remove cowl panel cover → 508719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COWL PANEL COVER .
  7. Remove center plenum panel wall → 508119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CROSS PANEL (DISASSEMBLING PLENUM PANEL) .
  8. Disconnect heat exchanger supply hose at the connection point for the passenger compartment → 803019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HEAT EXCHANGER SUPPLY HOSE .
  9. Disconnect heat exchanger return hose at the connection point for the passenger compartment → 803219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HEAT EXCHANGER RETURN HOSE .
  10. Remove front footwell outlet vent (at the left and right) → 805519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT FOOTWELL OUTLET VENT .
  11. Remove dashboard bracket → 516819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DASHBOARD BRACKET .
