Re-programming instrument cluster

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Porsche Macan and 2015 Porsche Macan. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Before doing any other work, read out the instrument cluster software version using the PIWIS Tester:

  1. Highlight the instrument cluster in the 'control unit overview  '.
  2. Read off the version shown in the "Software version  " line in the "Extended identifications  " menu:

    If the existing software version is either 0579 or 0585 

    carry out  the remedial action procedure described below, starting from Step 3  (Reprogramming instrument cluster).

  3. Re-program  the instrument cluster  using the PIWIS Tester with test software version 16.000 installed:
    1. 3.1. Carry out general preliminary work for control unit programming as described in → 9X00IN BASIC INSTRUCTIONS AND PROCEDURE FOR CONTROL UNIT PROGRAMMING USING THE PIWIS TESTER - "PRELIMINARY WORK" .
    2. 3.2. The basic procedure for control unit programming is described in: → 9X00IN BASIC INSTRUCTIONS AND PROCEDURE FOR CONTROL UNIT PROGRAMMING USING THE PIWIS TESTER .
      Required PIWIS Tester software version: 16.000  (or higher)
      Type of control unit programming: Carry out control unit programming using the 'Campaign' function in the Additional menu  on the PIWIS Tester by entering a programming code.
      Programming code: E9K7S 
      Programming sequence: Read and follow the information and instructions on the PIWIS Tester  during the guided programming sequence.
      Do not interrupt programming  .
      Software version programmed during this campaign: 1592 
      When programming is complete, the software version can be read out of the instrument cluster in the → 'Extended identifications'  menu using the PIWIS Tester.
      Procedure in the event of error messages appearing during the programming sequence: 9X00IN BASIC INSTRUCTIONS AND PROCEDURE FOR CONTROL UNIT PROGRAMMING USING THE PIWIS TESTER - "FAULT FINDING" .
      Procedure in the event of abnormal termination of control unit programming: Repeat control unit programming by entering the programming code again.
    3. 3.3. Carry out general subsequent work for control unit programming as described in → 9X00IN BASIC INSTRUCTIONS AND PROCEDURE FOR CONTROL UNIT PROGRAMMING USING THE PIWIS TESTER - "SUBSEQUENT WORK"
