Preliminary Work

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Porsche Cayenne, 2009 Porsche Cayenne, and 2008 Porsche Cayenne. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove engine. → Removing 4.8-litre DFI engine
  2. Remove engine from transmission → Removing engine from transmission and let it hang on the assembly support → Supporting the engine on the body .
  3. Drain engine oil. For details, see → Draining and filling in engine oil
  4. Remove drive belt. For details, see → Removing drive belt
  5. Remove coolant hoses in front of the timing-case cover. Don't forget the holder.

  6. Remove both valve covers. → Installing cylinder head cover (valve cover) 
  7. Remove vibration damper. → Removing vibration damper
  8. Remove joint flange behind the vibration damper and do not re-installed old flange. → Removing sealing ring for vibration balancer
  9. Remove oil pan and oil guide housing. → Removing oil guide housing
