Installing Outer Roof Pillar

  1. Apply adhesive.

    1. 1.1. Evenly apply adhesive to the marked areas.

      Working with body structural adhesive → 5X00IN WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE

  2. Install sealing element.

    1. 2.1. Apply body sealant all around the sealing element.

      Body sealant from Wurth Klebt und Dichtet

    2. 2.2. Clip sealing element into outer roof pillar.
  3. Fit and secure outer roof pillar.
  4. Weld in outer roof pillar.
    1. 4.1. Resistance spot-weld outer roof pillar.
    2. 4.2. Spot-weld outer roof pillar using inert gas and then grind down.

  6. Weld in outer roof pillar.
    1. 6.1. Plug-weld outer roof pillar using inert gas.
    2. 6.2. Apply a full weld to inner roof pillar using inert gas (30-40 mm).

  7. Weld in outer roof pillar.

    1. 7.1. Plug-weld outer roof pillar using inert gas.

      Information 

      When welding slots, make sure that both edges of the slot are welded through.

    2. 7.2. Slot-weld outer roof pillar in the area -A-  using inert gas.
    3. 7.3. Spot-weld outer roof pillar using inert gas.
  8. Install outer B-pillar reinforcement. → 514255 REPLACING OUTER B-PILLAR REINFORCEMENT 
  9. Evenly apply adhesive to the marked areas.

  10. Fit and secure outer side sections.
  11. Resistance spot-weld outer side section.

  14. Install B-pillar. → Installing B-Pillar 
  15. Apply a full weld to outer side section using inert gas.

  16. Weld in front transverse roof strut (section).
    1. 16.1. Fit and secure front transverse roof strut.
    2. 16.2. Resistance spot-weld front transverse roof strut.
    3. 16.3. Apply a full weld to front transverse roof strut using inert gas.
    4. 16.4. Spot-weld front transverse roof strut in the area -A-  using inert gas.

  17. Weld in center transverse roof strut.
    1. 17.1. Remove support.
    2. 17.2. Plug-weld center transverse roof strut using inert gas.
    3. 17.3. Apply a full weld to center transverse roof strut using inert gas.

  18. Weld in rear transverse roof strut.
    1. 18.1. Remove support.
    2. 18.2. Spot-weld rear transverse roof strut using inert gas.

  19. Install the roof. → Installing Roof
