Removing and installing selector lever cable: Installation
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2005 Porsche 911, 2004 Porsche 911, 2003 Porsche 911, 2002 Porsche 911, and 2001 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Screw on cable end piece by 12 +/- 0.5 mm.
- Position rubber grommet.
- Apply a generous coating of lubricant (e.g. Contifix tyre mounting paste) on the rubber grommet and B+ wire in the area of the body opening.
- Cable through the body opening from behind. Take care not to soil the passenger compartment.
- Insert B+ wire into the slot of the rubber grommet and carefully press grommet into the body opening.
- Fasten cable on support bracket.
- Press cable end piece onto the transmission lever using a pair of pliers. The end piece must be felt to engage.
- Install transmission support and cross member.
- Install parking brake console. Observe routing of the cable.
- Engage cable on support bracket (2).
- Move selector lever to position "P", engage cable into the open adjuster (1) and close the adjuster (3). The locking sleeve must move to the end position automatically.
- Check adjustment of selector lever cable (refer to Adjusting selector lever cable ).
- Adjust parking brake (refer to ADJUSTING THE PARKING BRAKE SHOES ).
- Install centre console (refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING CENTRE CONSOLE (FRONT SECTION) ).
- Install selector knob (refer to Removing and installing selector knob ).
- Fit underbody panels (middle and rear).
