Reading Out And Transferring Car Radio Values

Information
- When installing a new PCM/CDR in a vehicle, the PCM/CDR code specified in the PIWIS Infosystem should be available. Normally, the code is stored in the instrument cluster and is read out from the PCM/CDR.
- You can get the codes from the PIWIS information system or from your importer by specifying the vehicle identification number.
- The codes must be entered in PCM MMI and PCM GW after installing PCM.
- During coding, it is important to guarantee the power supply for PIWIS Tester II 9818 . A battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A must be connected to the vehicle battery.
- The PIWIS Tester II 9818 instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy, these are the instructions that must be followed. Deviations can occur with later software versions.
- The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in PIWIS Tester II 9818 .
- PIWIS Tester II 9818 must be connected to the vehicle and ignition switched on.
- Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
- Select the menu CD autochanger , Maintenance/repairs .
- Select the menu CD autochanger and Control unit replacement and press [F12].
- Select the Read data menu and press [F8] to start.
- The message Data was read out appears on the PIWIS Tester screen. Press [F12] to continue.
- Switch off ignition and replace radio. → Removing The Car Radio → Installing The Car Radio
- Switch on ignition. After you have replaced the radio, select Write data to load the data that was read out (see Step → 5). Press [F8] to start.
- The PIWIS Tester displays the message Data has been written . Press [F12] to continue.
- Select the menu CD autochanger , Maintenance/repairs .
- Select the Required & Actual installed components list menu and confirm your selection by pressing [F12].
- Compare the Actual/Required listing.
- Remove ignition key, close and lock vehicle, then unlock and switch on ignition
- Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
- The car radio is now taught.
