NOTE: Note the work instructions for disconnecting and reconnecting the battery
  1. Disconnect the battery → WM 2X00IN WORK INSTRUCTIONS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY (CARR. COUPE, CARR. S COUPE, "SPORT CLASSIC", CARR. CABRIO, CARR. S CABRIO, CARR. 4 COUPE, TURBO COUPE, CARR. 4S COUPE, TARGA 4, TARGA 4S, CARR. 4 CABRIO, CARR. 4S CABRIO, GT3, GT2, GT3 RS) .
  2. Drain engine oil → WM 170155 CHANGING ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER - section on "Draining".
  3. Remove air cleaner housing → WM 242519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIR CLEANER HOUSING - section on "Removing".
  4. Tiptronic Transmission:  Remove engine → REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE (VEHICLE WITH TIPTRONIC TRANSMISSION) - section on "Removing".
  5. Remove Tiptronic transmission → WM 373527 REMOVING AND MOUNTING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - section on "Removing".
  6. Remove drive plate for converter → WM 136319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DRIVE PLATE FOR CONVERTER - section on "Removing".
  7. Manual Transmission:  Remove manual transmission → WM 343519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION - section on "Removing".
  8. Remove clutch → WM 305019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CLUTCH - section on "Removing".
  9. Remove double-mass flywheel → WM 136019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DUAL-MASS FLYWHEEL - section on "Removing".
