Preliminary Work

Remove the engine.
→ 100119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE .
Remove engine carrier.
→ 103019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE CARRIER .

Remove rear silencer.
→ 263319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR SILENCER .
Remove exhaust manifolds. Unscrew nine M8 x 21 screws on each and remove manifold and seal.
→ 261019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING EXHAUST MANIFOLD WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTER .
Remove holder for rear silencer.
1. 5.1. Unscrew four M8 x 20 Torx screws and remove holder.
Remove heat shield for ignition coils.

Remove bar ignition modules.
1. 7.1. Pull off cable plugs on bar ignition modules, hall sender and solenoid hydraulic valve (VVS) and unscrew two M6 x 12 cheese head bolts for the ground cables for the bar ignition modules.
2. 7.2. In each case, unscrew one internal Torx (T30) countersunk screw (M6 x 16) and pull the ignition coils out of the spark-plug recess.
Remove spark plugs.
→ 287020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SPARK PLUGS .
Remove high-pressure pump.
→ 246319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HIGH-PRESSURE PUMP .
Remove vacuum pump.
→ 477619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING VACUUM PUMP .
Remove cover for positive crankcase ventilation.
1. 11.1. Cover on cylinder bank 1-3 -1- : Unscrew three external Torx screws (M6 x 20) -4- and replace O-ring -3- and molded seal -2- .

2. 11.2. Cover on cylinder bank 4-6 -1- : Unscrew two external Torx screws (M6 x 20) -3- and replace O-ring -2- .

Remove cylinder head cover.
