Preliminary Work

  1. Disconnect battery.

    → WM 2X00IN WORK INSTRUCTIONS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY (CARR. COUPE, CARR. S COUPE, "SPORT CLASSIC", CARR. CABRIO, CARR. S CABRIO, CARR. 4 COUPE, TURBO COUPE, CARR. 4S COUPE, TARGA 4, TARGA 4S, CARR. 4 CABRIO, CARR. 4S CABRIO, GT3, GT2, GT3 RS) - "Disconnecting" section.

  2. Remove pressure pipe.

    → 214119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PRESSURE PIPE - "Removing" section.

  3. Remove air cleaner housing.

  4. Remove fuel filter.

    → 206019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FINE FUEL STRAINER - "Removing" section.

    WARNING: Danger of objects or loads falling down
    • Risk of squashing or crushing

    → Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

  5. Lower the engine.

    Lower the engine by max. 40 mm. 

    Support the engine using a jack with retainer plate 9592  .

    Loosen and screw off M12 collar nuts on the engine mounting. Carefully lower the engine using the jack.

  6. Remove left intake-air distributor.

  7. Drain coolant.

    → 193817 DRAINING AND FILLING COOLANT - "Draining" section.
