Shift Control Linkage Adjustment
- Position the shift lever in PARK.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the front closeout panel. Refer to Floor Panel Tunnel Panel Replacement - Front (Automatic Transmission) or Floor Panel Tunnel Panel Replacement - Front (Manual Transmission) .
- Slide the shift control linkage adjustment lock cover (1) back exposing the locking tab.
- Lift the shift control linkage adjustment locking tab (1).
- The shift control linkage rod (3) and rod end (2) are free to slide to proper adjustment. Ensure the shift lever and transmission are both in the PARK position.
- Depress the shift control linkage adjustment locking tab (1) to lock the adjustment.
- Slide the shift control linkage adjustment lock cover (1) over the locking tab.
- Install the front closeout panel. Refer to Floor Panel Tunnel Panel Replacement - Front (Automatic Transmission) or Floor Panel Tunnel Panel Replacement - Front (Manual Transmission) .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Inspect the operation of the starting system with the shift lever in each position. The engine should only crank when the lever is in the PARK or NEUTRAL position.
