Removal and Installation: Preparation

- Remove the front under cover using power tool. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove the cowl extension panel. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Drain engine coolant. Refer to Changing Engine Coolant .
- Release fuel pressure. Refer to Work Procedure .
- Remove the engine hood. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Disconnect the battery negative and positive terminals. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove the air duct and resonator assembly and air cleaner case assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Disconnect crankcase ventilation hoses at resonator.
- Remove front grille. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove the engine cooling fan and shroud. Refer to Removal and Installation (Crankshaft driven type) .
- Remove the radiator assembly and hoses. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove the drive belt. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Disconnect the engine room harness from the engine side and set it aside.
- Disconnect the engine harness grounds.
- Disconnect the power steering reservoir from the engine and move it aside.
- Disconnect power steering oil pump from engine and set aside. Refer to Removal and Installation - VQ40DE .
- Remove the A/C compressor bolts and set aside without disconnecting the A/C hoses. Refer to Removal and Installation for A/C Compressor - VQ40DE .
- Disconnect EVAP line.
- Disconnect the fuel hose at the engine side connection. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Disconnect the heater hoses at cowl.
- Remove the A/T fluid level gauge and A/T fluid charging pipe. Refer to Exploded View .
- Remove front exhaust tubes. Refer to Exploded View .
- Remove crankshaft position sensor.
- Reposition exhaust manifold heat shields.
- Install engine slingers into left bank and right bank.

CAUTION: Do not use hole (2).: Front
Engine slinger bolt (A) torque:
28.0 N.m (2.9 kg-m, 21 ft-lb)
- Attach chains to the engine slingers and remove slack to secure engine in position for the next steps.
- Remove front frame crossmember.
- Remove transmission. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove engine mount bracket bolts using power tool.
- Remove engine mounting insulator with power tool.
- Remove engine assembly from vehicle, avoiding interference with vehicle body.CAUTION: Repeatedly check to ensure all harnesses are disconnected before and during engine lifting.
