Removal and Installation: Removal

- Set front wheels in specified position.
- For 2WD models, set front wheels and tires in straight ahead position.
- For 4WD models, set front wheels and tires in full right position.
- Remove front under cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove stabilizer clamps. Refer to Exploded View .
- Reposition stabilizer out of the way.
- For Cummins 5.0 engine, remove bolt (A) from power steering pressure line at frame rail.
- Remove bolts (A) from power steering return line at LH side of frame and radiator core support.
- Remove cotter pin (A) and nut (B) from pitman arm (1). Separate pitman arm from relay rod using suitable tool. Discard cotter pin.CAUTION: Do not reuse cotter pin.NOTE: 4WD model shown, 2WD model similar.
- Remove cotter pin (A) and nut (B) from idler arm. Separate idler arm from relay rod using suitable tool. Discard cotter pin.CAUTION: Do not reuse cotter pin.NOTE: 4WD model shown, 2WD model similar.
- Remove steering lower joint pinch bolt (A) at steering box (1). Separate steering lower joint from steering box.
- Remove bolts and remove steering box from vehicle.
- Remove pitman arm from steering box (if necessary). Refer to Exploded View .
